Do you know anyone with my potential baby name

Hello,
Esme is the frontrunner for our baby's name.
But I'm a bit confused as to whether it's popular or not. It's currently mid forties on the charts but when I've spoken to people they say that they know of quite a few.
Could be regional thing?

It would be great if you could let me know if you know any (and their ages) and also if you don't know any at all!

Thanks

West Midlands here. I know 1 small esme and a 7 year old esmae.

My daughter is also a huge fan of 'this esme' on YouTube

Marmite27 · 30/10/2020 01:23

One that’s due in January.

Popularity probably peaked at the height of Twilight fever TBH.

Ghosts2020 · 30/10/2020 03:39

My friend had a baby and called her that, I also know a 15 year old with the name, when I was at secondary however everyone seemed to love it

IHateCoronavirus · 30/10/2020 03:58

One is Reception (said how you would choose).
A lot more in the rest of the school, but variations of Ezmai; enough of a reason not to use it. East Anglia.

I don't know any adults and would consider it growing in popularity and not very unusual.

If you like the name just go with it. My DD has a very popular name but I don't care. Might sound nuts but when she came, to look at her she just suited that one over others on our short list and it just felt right. I've no doubt when she goes to high school she'll encounter loads of girls with the same name but I don't care. I'm sure she won't either! So just go with your favourite whether it's popular or not. 👍🏼

I know a Renesmee known as Esme (apart from her gran who calls her Nessie). Used to go to school with an Esme in the 80s but don't know any others. I live near Birmingham.

Wow. I take it her parents were massive Twilight fans?
mastertomsmum · 31/10/2020 14:56

We know 2 14 yr olds with the name. I think it’s uncommon as a name because it’s a grandma or great grandma name within living memory. Enid, Elsie, Flo, Vera likewise

Thatwaslulu · 31/10/2020 18:14

bigpumpkin her mum is. The dad named the eldest one after a character in Breaking Bad, his favourite TV show, so let the mum call the next baby after her favourite film character. They were 14 when the first one was born and 16 with the second one. The third one is named after a rapper Hmm

ToffeeAppleCaramel · 31/10/2020 18:28
