Do you know anyone with my potential baby name

Hello,
Esme is the frontrunner for our baby's name.
But I'm a bit confused as to whether it's popular or not. It's currently mid forties on the charts but when I've spoken to people they say that they know of quite a few.
Could be regional thing?

It would be great if you could let me know if you know any (and their ages) and also if you don't know any at all!

Thanks

I have a great aunt Esme 97 !

dottiedaisee · 27/10/2020 21:11

I have a 24 year old Esme...beautiful name and she loves her name . We didn’t meet another Esme until she was in her teens . Go for it she will love her name. I did have to correct people from calling her Esmay but otherwise absolutely no regrets...and she is a lovely, intelligent, successful human being 💕

ArtemisFido · 27/10/2020 21:19

I currently know two (Yorkshire) but when I used to help out in schools there would usually be at least one Esmé in the school.

Mind you, both my girls have top ten names (coincidentally) and my eldest has only met one child with the same name and she does lots of out of school activities. My youngest has never let anyone else with the same name.

cherrybrakewell · 27/10/2020 21:21

Thanks to you all!
So am I right in thinking that it's not one of the Evie, Edie, Ava type trend? I didn't put this name in that set as I thought it was a bit more unique sounding?
No offence to the Evies out there, I just want something a bit different

One aged 5 and one aged 7 (SW), Esmee, Esmay.

The only ones I knew would be about 100 now if they were still alive.
For me it's an old lady's name and they both pronounced it ezmee
It is becoming more popular but I've never heard any kids with it around here (s wales)
I have heard of a few esmae's (not sure of spelling)
