Due a baby girl in November and this name keeps on popping up but I'm worried it will be a little too out there? It's a lovely flower and it seems to fit well with the middle name Kimberly. Plus it's the only name I love, the others I have shortlisted I just like.

Also, there's the whole marshmallow thing, however, I'm sure the majority pronounces marshmallow with an E?

Marshmallow.

Sorry that was my initial reaction.

Popcornismandatory · 03/10/2020 22:32

Cute name.

IWantToBeNynaeve · 03/10/2020 22:32

Marshmallow is the first thing I think of too.

villamariavintrapp · 03/10/2020 22:33

Yes marshmallow. Not sure how you would pronounce that with an e?

markzuckerbergsgreytshirt · 03/10/2020 22:33

You go for it hun. What's stopping ya?

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 03/10/2020 22:33

Never ever heard of any child being called mallow. Would you like to be called mallow? I wouldn't. What about malorie/mallory?

mamangelo · 03/10/2020 22:33

It made me think marrow!

Popcornismandatory · 03/10/2020 22:34

I think that's a really cute name.

Horehound · 03/10/2020 22:34

Where exactly does it keep "pooping up"? It's not a good name.

DragonPie · 03/10/2020 22:34

They’ll get called marshmallow, whether you think it gets pronounced with an E or not. Don’t do that.

DownThePlath · 03/10/2020 22:35

Thought 'shallow' first and then marshmallow straight after.

PodgeBod · 03/10/2020 22:35

I immediately thought marshmallow

Jacoba · 03/10/2020 22:35

I think of the sweet rather than the plant, but it does have a lovely sound.
What about Malou? It’s a contraction of Marie-Louise.

Horehound · 03/10/2020 22:35

Wtf does this mean "I'm sure the majority pronounces marshmallow with an E"

It's marsh ma low. That's how it's said. Same as mallow.

Autumnleaves200 · 03/10/2020 22:36

I wouldn’t as a first name, but if you really love it then you could use it as a middle name

TomNookTheHustler · 03/10/2020 22:38

It reminds me of Mallow from Pokemon, cool girl with green hair Grinas PP said, Malorie/Mallory is nice.

AcrobaticCardigan · 03/10/2020 22:38

Never heard of mallow being used as a name. Marshmallow is my first and only thought...

Aquamarine1029 · 03/10/2020 22:38

Mallow. Marrow, marshmallow, shallow. Sorry, it's awful.

Balonder · 03/10/2020 22:39

Kimberley is a type of biscuit you can get in Ireland. They are described as mallow cakes. Chocolate kimberlies are delicious.

I also thought of marshmallow. If you love it though, thst's all that matters really.

MonkeyPuddle · 03/10/2020 22:42

No.

Laaalaaaa · 03/10/2020 22:43

Poor child, will be known as Marshmallow at school.

SweetBabeofMine · 03/10/2020 22:44

I suppose that's a definite no then! Smile Although I really like Mallory! Never thought of that as an alternative, but would it work with mn Kimberly? Mallory Kimberly is a mouthful and can't change the middle name as it's an honour name.

As for the pronunciation of marshmallow, I suppose it's all down to regional accents? I've only ever had those once or twice (as a child) so I've not said the word often. Thank you for the corrections, though!
