Thoughts on the name piper for a girl

Hi everyone ,
So after three boys I finally fell pregnant with a baby girl
All my boys have five letter , two syllable names ( kind of just happened for the first two )
Anyway our surname starts with beginning j so don’t want any first names b 🥴 I’m so stuck on a girls name
I do want to stick with the theme but can’t find any names I like
Until I stumbled on American names and tv shows
Piper ! My other half really Likes now it and telling people who also like it but I’m unsure 😐
Basically I’m in the uk and my three boys do have names that tend to be on American lists more , but are also popular uk
What does everyone think of the name piper ? Or any other ideas ? I personally think it’s harder for a girls name as chance they may get bullied more !

Not saying boys don’t get bullied for names but I think for girls it’s more of worry about names!!

I like Piper, but I like more American names anyway. My DS has a popular American name, that’s also an action.
I work in a school and I’ve met a lovely girl called Piper.

SisterAgatha · 13/09/2020 18:57

Love it!

IHateCoronavirus · 13/09/2020 18:59

I know a Pyper. She is the sweetest child. So caring and friendly.

MondeoFan · 13/09/2020 19:00

It's nice has a pretty sound

DaenarysStormborn · 13/09/2020 19:00

Makes me think of Charmed. Lovely name

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 13/09/2020 19:03

I like it.
I presume one of the American TV shows you've stumbled across is charmed?
As long as you don't have siblings called paige, pru or phoebe you should be fine!

Scarby9 · 13/09/2020 19:05

My association is Piper Alpha, but that is a bit obscure and definitely would not haunt a baby born today.
It's a nice name.

Teakind · 13/09/2020 19:16

I really like it

JustSaying101 · 13/09/2020 19:22

I like the name Piper, reminds me of characters in Charmed and Orange is the New Black. Pretty popular in the US but definitely gaining popularity here in the UK.

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 19:26

Haha yes charmed
My nephew is cole though !! One of my sons was going to be Wyatt from charmed but people kept saying about Wyatt Earp ! So now he’s Caleb ! I also have a Riley (holly oaks) and Mason (kuwtk)
It’s purely because we could never decide on a name and then we would watch tv and be like oh I like that ! We did have Lexie in mind but people said about sexy lexy or a p**nstar name which kind of threw me off 👀😬 why they would say that I’m not sure ! I’m aware Riley is more of a girls name In America though ! I’m worried she will be bullied and called pied piper or something
I know I shouldn’t worry what people think but I really don’t want her to be bullied
I hate name as it’s a unisex name but people tend to think of it as more male

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2020 19:27

No, not for me. Not my style at all. But if you both love it and it goes with your boys' names, go for it.

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2020 19:29

Cross-posted there. It definitely does go with your sons' names.

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 19:33

Meant to say I hate my name ! As it’s unisex but more male ! And I always get asked if it’s short for something! The only other names we had in mind were Lexie ( until comments ), Tayla ( until comments it was too masculine to give a girl with three brothers ) , Halle , aubri , indie and Heidi

Unseeliequeen · 13/09/2020 19:34

Not keen.
Makes me think of pipes, pipe down (be quiet) but most of all sex: "I piped her down good last night."

Quizeerascal · 13/09/2020 19:37

I love it, really enjoyed the book Orange is the New Black so thats a good association ime. I also think it goes well with your other names

Chameleon2003 · 13/09/2020 19:40

Love it - surprised it's not more popular after Orange is the New Black.
Would also love to have called a girl 'Scout'.

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 19:42

I’ve never heard that expression regarding sex haha
But it’s something to think about

OP posts:
KindKylie · 13/09/2020 19:47

Makes me think of 'pipe doen' too!

I really like Heidi, and prefer Indie and Halle to Piper

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 19:51

Yeah I like Halle but whether people pronounce it as Halle Berry though
Heidi I get the Heidi hi Heidi ho! And indie I get about music / films or is it short for India

Alwaysinpain · 13/09/2020 20:47

funnyoldonion · 13/09/2020 20:51

Love it!

jldy2020 · 13/09/2020 20:51

I think it's lovely!

Onacleardayyoucansee · 13/09/2020 20:57

Piper.
Who smokes/plays a pipe?
Prefer Pippa, Pip.

Im not into occupation/hobby names, but I'd say, go for the name you love.
There's loads of threads on here where people are full of angst and changing names so do what's right for you.
