Thoughts on the name piper for a girl

Hi everyone ,
So after three boys I finally fell pregnant with a baby girl
All my boys have five letter , two syllable names ( kind of just happened for the first two )
Anyway our surname starts with beginning j so don’t want any first names b 🥴 I’m so stuck on a girls name
I do want to stick with the theme but can’t find any names I like
Until I stumbled on American names and tv shows
Piper ! My other half really Likes now it and telling people who also like it but I’m unsure 😐
Basically I’m in the uk and my three boys do have names that tend to be on American lists more , but are also popular uk
What does everyone think of the name piper ? Or any other ideas ? I personally think it’s harder for a girls name as chance they may get bullied more !

Ooh Freya is lovely, and Willa

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 21:53

I would like five letters and two syllables
Same as older brothers ! I’m a bit weird like that 😂

I like it, but it's my surname so cant use it myself Grin

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 21:55

I’m not sure my generation or the kids generation would think of some of those things 😂 but it’s something to look into

Yeah I see what you mean about occupation but then I have a Mason so I guess I kinda fell into it there 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love it.....so much that it is my daughters name!

scaryfrogfish · 13/09/2020 22:11

Gillian Anderson's daughter is Piper IIRC.

Babynumberfour · 13/09/2020 22:15

@bumblingalongslowly does she ( or you) get negative comments or bullied for her name ? As above comments with sex , smoking , plumbing etc

I really like it

MercyBodle · 14/09/2020 01:33

I like it, and like it more than the other names on your list.

percheron67 · 14/09/2020 03:27

Do you live in Dagenham?

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 14/09/2020 06:40

I like it lots. It's sweet and not massively popular over here.
Also a charmed fan.

bumblingalongslowly · 14/09/2020 07:28

No she has never had anything negative said to her and she loves her name as well.

ShitShowofalife · 14/09/2020 07:34

I've got a Piper. She's a teen and loves her name. No regrets and never a bad comment ( to our faces!). Never heard of any of the sex references mentioned. Piper Alpha crossed my mind, but not really for this generation.
She goes by Pip. I despise 'Pipes' gives me rage!.

Whatthebloodyell · 14/09/2020 07:39

I think it’s a nice name and goes well with your boys.

Babynumberfour · 14/09/2020 07:49

@percheron67 nope far from

@ShitShowofalife thank you ! I must be awful as I’ve never heard of piper alpha !! But maybe not my generation ? I’m sure she can be called pip if she wanted !! But then I doubt people would call her pipes
That’s lazy to me

It makes me think of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and missing children.

It's a pretty word but the associations are too negative for me.

BinkyBoinky · 14/09/2020 09:08

Very American

HappydaysArehere · 14/09/2020 09:45

Made me think of Piper Laurie who was a glamorous actress in the fifties/sixties but appeared in films in character part as she got older.
However, can’t get the image of drain pipes out of my head but if you like it that doesn’t come into it.

VenusClapTrap · 14/09/2020 10:52

It’s a no from me. But Heidi is lovely.

TheVanguardSix · 14/09/2020 10:54

I used to love it. It's gone a bit 'dog's name' in my neck of the woods.

MJMG2015 · 14/09/2020 11:12

I really dislike a lot of the noun/occupation/season/weather type names, but for some reason I really like Piper. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think Maybe because it's the maiden name of a much loved relative. Not sure. But I can't actually imagine calling a baby girl Piper. I'm much more of a Daisy/Amelie type person.

But I have none of the negative associations with it. I'm 51, so maybe the sex reference is amongst the younger crowd? And the Piper Alpha amongst the older crowd. Absolutely stretching it to Pied Piper 🤣

If you love it, use it!

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 16/09/2020 17:56

I think it’s fine. It is very American, which is not my personal style, but it’s a perfectly useable name. I’ve never heard of any sexual references linked to the name.
