Hi everyone ,
So after three boys I finally fell pregnant with a baby girl
All my boys have five letter , two syllable names ( kind of just happened for the first two )
Anyway our surname starts with beginning j so don’t want any first names b 🥴 I’m so stuck on a girls name
I do want to stick with the theme but can’t find any names I like
Until I stumbled on American names and tv shows
Piper ! My other half really Likes now it and telling people who also like it but I’m unsure 😐
Basically I’m in the uk and my three boys do have names that tend to be on American lists more , but are also popular uk
What does everyone think of the name piper ? Or any other ideas ? I personally think it’s harder for a girls name as chance they may get bullied more !

It’s not my taste but I think it’s fine.

I think it’s an awful clunky name, sorry! Makes me think of the ‘Pied Piper’ story or plumbers. Or piebald horses!

What if it gets shortened to Pipe?

Babynumberfour · 16/09/2020 20:29

@RattleOfBars horses I don’t think anyone will think about especially in my area
Pied piper is the only thing I was concerned about but to be honest you can have all sorts of things associated with names these days
Like Freddie with Freddie got fingered
Or Dylan the dildo
Tash the rash
Smeg meg
These are only a couple I’ve known out of many
Unfortunately these days A lot of names can be made to sound awful 😂
I’m still not sure on what I want to call her !! I’m just so happy we are having a healthy little girl after three gorgeous boys

Really like it.

Arnoldthecat · 16/09/2020 20:33

NO

GreenJellyBean · 16/09/2020 20:38

Instantly makes me think Pied Piper and I don’t think it’s particularly pretty, just personally

ellieboulou33 · 16/09/2020 20:40

Not for me but then I am married to a plumber 🤣

tiktokmakeaclock · 16/09/2020 20:42

I like it. It's very Scout.

Shutupyoutart · 16/09/2020 20:50

I really like piper. I associate it more with charmed then oitnb and I'm a big charmed fan. :) think it also goes well with your boys names. My dds middle name is lexie i love it. Out of your other names i love heidi not indie sorry but that's cos my friend named her dog that lol. How about darcy, amber, ciara, chloe, lizzy, holly.

NotMeNoNo · 16/09/2020 20:54

Ah I thought you'd been watching The Next Step. Riley AND Piper in that.

People make their names their own, I'd rather a chirpy modern name than Norah or too popular Freya. My name was off a U.S. TV show and has served me well for 50 years.

I agree a lot of names can be made to sound awful or have negative connotations. I haven’t heard of any of the connotations you mentioned above though.

Pied Piper is a very old, well known (and creepy) fairytale so I guess that’s why people link it to an unusual name.

Anyways, congratulations on your little girl, whatever you choose to call her :)

WithASpider · 16/09/2020 22:40

Piper was one of 2 choices for DD1, we went with the other in the end but didn't decide till she arrived!

I love it.
