Which longer version of Max

So I really like the name Max and it’s one of only a few that my husband and I agree on.

However my husband is insistent that he have a ‘full name’ on his birth certificate.

Which longer variation of Max do you prefer? Or do you think Max alone is fine.

We were going to go for Maximilian. Think Max is totally good on it's own though!

Maxim

I think Max is fine on its own. I like it, but I don't like any of the longer versions.

I love Maxwell personally, its one of my favourite boys names

Maxim

Love Max, but not keen on any of the longer names

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 03/08/2020 23:57

Maxwell is awful, just reminds me of the awful coffee brand. Maximillian is a mouthful. I'd personally go for just Max.

At a push - Massimo or Magnus!

I'd probably go for Maxwell.

Maxence

There is a very hot French actor called maxence Danet fauvelle

NavyKitchen · 04/08/2020 00:24

We have a Max and I think it works fine as a stand alone name. My Dad suggested Maxwell because he said it sounded like a prime minister 🙄, dh wanted Maximus for the Gladiator connection🙄 and my mum wanted Maximilian because she thought it sounded posh 🙄 He's just called Max...

AlwaysLatte · 04/08/2020 00:25

Max is a lovely name. It was on my list but when we sat down together to discuss names my husband said 'only if his full name will be Maximum Disruption' Grin

AlwaysLatte · 04/08/2020 00:25

Why can't Max be the full name?

Ellmau · 04/08/2020 00:31

Maximilian is lovely.

sibbys · 04/08/2020 03:29

Max is lovely on it's own.

Maximillian is okay.

Maxim is a porn magazine!!!

lovemyname · 04/08/2020 03:53

We have a Max, he's early teens now and I think I've only ever been asked twice if it was short for a longer name.

I love it and think it's fine as it is although my other boys also have the 'short' version of their names on their birth certificates too.

muststopdrinking · 04/08/2020 04:24

Maxwell is good. I love Max. That alone is enough I think.

Whatsyourflava · 04/08/2020 07:40

Maxwell

FourPlasticRings · 04/08/2020 07:42

I think Maxwell.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 04/08/2020 07:46

I think Magnus nn Max as a PP suggested. Magnus is cool, easy to spell, and gives him an alternative if he doesn't like Max.

Lavenderblues · 04/08/2020 08:45

Maximus is a good option. Max is very nicknamey and is often used as a short form for Maximum eg Max Speed. I'd prefer a longer name.

CaffiSaliMali · 04/08/2020 10:45

Max is one of those diminutive names which is much nicer than the long versions. I like Maxim the most, but the magazine... Maximilian is nicer than Maxwell IMO. Tbh I'd probably just put Max on the BC and I say this as someone who is generally very wedded to long versions on a BC.

Macsen is on my list - Magnus Maximus is known in Welsh folklore as Macsen Wledig. Macsen is pronounced MAX-en (en as in hen and pen). Natural shortening would be Macs though as there is no X in the Welsh alphabet, so it's probably not a helpful long version for you!

MikeUniformMike · 04/08/2020 13:29

MacSorley, MacSween, ...

ButterflyOfFreedom · 04/08/2020 13:31

Maxwell or Maximus
