Clarification on Jaxson or Max

I should explain where I got "Jaxson" from. My wife's name is Jazmin. Her father named all his children and spelt their names uniquely. I took Max and Jackson and put them together. Sorry. I am able to spell it's just a thing in my wife's family. Max was the name of a Kid from a movie we both watched and loved. Thanks for all the feedback.

I like the sentiment behind it. But the name isn't my cup of tea I'm afraid, especially spelt like that.

You don't need the s as well as the x. So Jaxon. But yes, not keen. Bit like a floor cleaning fluid.

Also, I don't understand the 'son' in names if they aren't actually the son of. Archie Harrison - fair enough, he's Harry's son.

OP In spelling English (and many other languages) X = KS.

So Jackson (meaning 'son of Jack') could be spelled Jaxon - though this is not standard English spelling, and therefore many people don't like it. Many previuous posters have explained this.

By standard English spelling norms, Jaxson just doesn't make sense. It gives Jacksson, which really does look - erm unusual.

That's why Jaxson has been criticised by so many people.

I agree with carouselfish that unless your name is Jack, why call a child 'Jackson'?

Jackson is bad enough but misspelt Jackson is even worse.

I'd just go with 'Jax' which I think is an awesome name for a boy or a girl. Jaxson is awful but if you like it, then please spell it Jackson.

Don't saddle your child with a "uniquely" spelt name that he will have to correct people on his entire life. Just use the traditional spelling Jackson, or at a push, Jaxon. As PP above said, "Jaxson" doesn't even correspond with the rules of the English language and will indeed give people the impression that you can't spell.

Nothing is more boring than a younique name.

You have to have a list in your book so that when you need to send a card you get it right, and that extra effort alone makes me cross.

You could use Macsen which is a Welsh name. Abbreviate to Macs. Sounds a bit like your mash up Jaxon name.

Jaxson is awful.

It will make you appear to be illiterate, and your child will be judged. Yes, we can all be PC, and say it's wrong to do that, blah, blah - but it will happen.
Nobody knows or cares about the backstory - particularly when someone is filling in a form for your child etc. "U-neek" names, or rather, as in your case, taking a conventional sounding name and mis-spelling it just seems ignorant, not clever or interesting.

Your explanation hasn't changed my opinion. Max is fine. Jaxson isn't nice at all and really does look as if you didn't know how to spell Jackson but went with it anyway. You'll be judged on that, like it or not.

It's not even a unique name though. I think it's fairly common, in both senses of the word, and it's the kind of name that will make people judge your child before you've even met them.
