Clarification on Jaxson or Max

I should explain where I got "Jaxson" from. My wife's name is Jazmin. Her father named all his children and spelt their names uniquely. I took Max and Jackson and put them together. Sorry. I am able to spell it's just a thing in my wife's family. Max was the name of a Kid from a movie we both watched and loved. Thanks for all the feedback.

Oh, OP. Mumsnet is a UK site, so yes, you're going to get UK opinions.

And mine is that a lot of Americans give their kids really stupid names, such as Jaxson.

Some Brits are starting to copy this trend but it is seen as quite a trashy thing here. If your child has a name like this then people will generally make some rather unflattering assumptions about your child's social class and the parents' intelligence.

If you plan to bring your child up in the US and not in the UK then it's probably less of an issue. I guess it stands to reason that if more people have these kinds of names over there then it's less likely to raise eyebrows.

But still, for the love of all that is holy, pick Max. It's so much better.

Sorry, I have to agree with most comments on here in that Jaxson really isn't my favourite name...

I like Max though 🙂

I think a potential employer sifting through application forms might have some preconceptions about a Jaxson. That said, you’re in the USA. Maybe things are different there.

As I said on the other thread, the x represents the ‘cks’ in Jackson. You therefore don’t need the extra s, it just looks silly.
