Clarification on Jaxson or Max

I should explain where I got "Jaxson" from. My wife's name is Jazmin. Her father named all his children and spelt their names uniquely. I took Max and Jackson and put them together. Sorry. I am able to spell it's just a thing in my wife's family. Max was the name of a Kid from a movie we both watched and loved. Thanks for all the feedback.

Jaxson is still awful though. Do you want to have to explain it to everyone you give his name to? More importantly, is HE going to want to explain it to everyone his whole life? And spell it for everyone, correct people's spelling of it, over and over and over? I have a name with a slightly unusual spelling - four letters, one is a vowel, it's not the vowel you'd expect. EVERYONE spells it wrong, because they spell it the normal way. Some people get it right after they've been corrected, some people never do. Especially in the workplace, my name is consistently spelled incorrectly. This is annoying. As is having to spell my name aloud every time I give it over the phone etc, "with an I not an E" seems to be a baffling instruction to many. It's not the end of the world but it's fecking irritating. And my name is actually a real name, not one that's made up.

It doesn't mean unmarried, nor does it have an English meaning, until translated to child.

Everyone understands what chav / chavvy means. They may agree or disagree with using the term but it has a very clear meaning in English. Arguing that it doesn't is ridiculous.

I don't care right or wrong, it's a stolen word from another language that is used in a derogatory way.
I know it's used like this in the UK, and I call it every time, as I find it offensive and so does any other Romany person I know.

If you and others want to carry on offending a race, then carry on. I know if it was me I'd at least not argue the toss, and apologise for any offence.

Words get taken and used from other languages all the time and have done throughout history, often those words gather different meanings not at all related to the original. That's what has happened here. Like it or not, the word now has another meaning.

It's disingenuous to say that the word 'chav' has nothing to do with the gypsy word. It's sneering, classist and offensive and relies on stereotypes of poor, 'low class' and uneducated people which people who use it tend to hold just as much about travellers.
