Thoughts on Delta

I am not expecting but a huge fan of baby names and frankly during this quarantine is really a good way to pass time.

I really like the name Delta and it actually holds some meaning to me personally and just wanted to hear what you think of it and these middle name combos. I'd like a normal/common middle to be used as a backup

Delta Caroline
Delta Olivia
Delta Alexandra

Thoughts on it or any other middle names you feel would be a good match? Also I don't live in the US so Delta Airlines is not a big thing here Smile

I live in the UK and my first thought was airline...

GrimmsFairytales · 30/04/2020 18:18

I live in the UK and my first thought was airline...

Same here.

OP I appreciate it has meaning for you, but it really would work better as a middle name.

TheThingWithFeathers · 30/04/2020 18:20

I just think of the airline too.

pannikin · 30/04/2020 18:20

Another one in the UK who immediately thought of the airline

Poodles03 · 30/04/2020 18:20

I really wouldn't be so sure of your last point, OP. Yes, Delta are a U.S. airline but their aircraft are seen all over the world.

Second thing I thought of - there was a naff actress from Neighbours in the 90s called Delta Goodrem, she made some really shit songs.

peperethecat · 30/04/2020 18:20

Airline.

NightingalesAtDawn · 30/04/2020 18:21

Airline 🤣

user1495884620 · 30/04/2020 18:24

First thought was airline (also in UK). Second thought was to be surprised at the middle names, sounds male to me, despite the A ending.

thenightsky · 30/04/2020 18:28

I thought airline too.

florascotia2 · 30/04/2020 18:29

My first thoughts were geography - Nile delta and so on.

Also the international emergency services/NATO alphabet : Alpha-Bravo-Charlie-Delta etc.

Delta is also a mathematical symbol, though others will know much more about this than me.

There are also things such as delta-wing warplanes...

Genuinely very sorry OP if all this is unwelcome because the word delta means something to you. But to most people, it will be that, a word rather than a name. Yes, it has been used as a name but in 2018, the last year for which official stats are available, only 18 babies were given that name. And it's only been used as a personal name since around 2002.

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 18:30

Nice for a middle name

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2020 18:31

Geography and airline were my first thoughts. I'm no keen.

Baseline2815 · 30/04/2020 18:33

I love it! It's a beautiful name. Do it!

OnlyJudyCanJudgeMe · 30/04/2020 18:34

Delta Dawn the song or Delta Goodrem who used to be in Neighbours.
It’s not bad.

HoHoHolyCow · 30/04/2020 18:34

I didn't think of the airline at all! I did think of Delta Goodrem though. It's a nice name!

Whathappenedtothelego · 30/04/2020 18:34

I think of the song:

Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from years gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a meetin you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky.

CendrillonSings · 30/04/2020 18:36

Deltas are one of the lowest social classes in Brave New World...

EmpressLangClegInChair · 30/04/2020 18:38

Another UK person who thought airline.

SnowdropFox · 30/04/2020 18:38

My first thought was geography so images of pretty rivers.

I think a shorter middle name would suit Delta better imo. Not a fan of your middle names, not my style at all. If I had to pick one though I'd pick Caroline as I prefer the meaning.

Lyricallie · 30/04/2020 18:39

I thought of the airline and also a cider and black from the student union Blush

But if you like it and you're happy go for it! If I had to pick I'd for delta Olivia.

midwestsummer · 30/04/2020 18:39

Airline

AdaColeman · 30/04/2020 18:40

Not as pretty as Alitalia.

BrooHaHa · 30/04/2020 18:40

I also think of the river terminology. It'd be a great name for a dog though, say a lurcher or alsatian.

Stinkyjellycat · 30/04/2020 18:40

You might find this interesting OP. 10 girls named Cadence born in England and Wales in 2018.

Stinkyjellycat · 30/04/2020 18:41

Argh link! names.darkgreener.com/#cadence
