Despite being popular in the 70s/80s there were only the odd 1 or 2 at school who had the same name as me. However, on leaving school, having been in various jobs and lived in different places etc I've met LOADS of people with my name and realise just how unoriginal it is Sad

ivykaty44 · 04/01/2020 21:17

14412 people were given the same first name as me the year I was born 😂

Basilicaofthemind · 04/01/2020 21:19

GreaterSpotted that’s my experience exactly. There were only 2 or 3 other girls with my name in my huge secondary school but it’s actually a really common name for my age group and I’ve subsequently met loads. Shows how localised naming trends can be.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 04/01/2020 21:19

Five in my year. Obviously a popular name the year I was born but not generally all that popular and fallen completely out of favour now.

isabellerossignol · 04/01/2020 21:21

None, and I've never met anyone younger than me who shares my name. Have never met anyone with my middle name either. It's funny because all my siblings have very 'normal' names but mine is really unusual. Parents must have had a fit of madness.

ivykaty44 · 04/01/2020 21:21

Scoose there were well over a hundred in 1981/1982 but in the scheme of things that’s not very many out of 67million now 😄

Scoose · 04/01/2020 21:24

I wonder where they were all hiding ivy

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 04/01/2020 21:24

None, my name isn't unusual but it's not popular.

I hated it when I was younger, I love it now.

MusicToMyEars800 · 04/01/2020 21:24

None and still rarely ever hear my name now

Mammyloveswine · 04/01/2020 21:26

No one... even now I rarely come across people my age with my name in this country!

SeraphinaDombegh · 04/01/2020 21:26

Two of us in my tutor group and six of us in the same year ( out of 150 or so children). Funny, because since leaving school I've hardly ever met anyone who shares my name and now it regularly appears on the most- hated lists on MN Grin

JewelTheft · 04/01/2020 21:28

Two others in my year at primary, one other at secondary. In my early 30s, I did go on a hen weekend where out of 9 people, 4 of us had the same name.

Mamabear144 · 04/01/2020 21:34

11 in my year at one point, clearly I have a very common name

Sgtmajormummy · 04/01/2020 21:36

4 of us had names with the same first syllable in High School.
When the teacher started saying it we all ducked our heads!

My name is very popular now but it was more Old Lady in the 70s.

OhTheRoses · 04/01/2020 21:39

None at primary
None at secondary
One at work

Bluebellbike · 04/01/2020 21:40

There were 6 of us I. My class in primary school. I can't rember how manny I my class at secondary school. However it was an extremely popular name which peaked in popularity the year I ws born, when there were over 240,000 born.

SellFridges · 04/01/2020 21:42

None at primary, I think probably 5 or 6 in my year (250) at secondary.

When I got to uni there were 4 of us in one house (out of 25 women). There were another 3 of another common name too so I don’t think there was much variation in girls names in the eighties.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 04/01/2020 21:44

None. And I have never met anyone with the same name (and I'm 50!). My surname is unusual too. Google my name and you find ... me.

Melaniesunflower · 04/01/2020 21:46

In primary school there were 5 other girls with the same name, and in secondary it increased to 10...... I have a name that was very popular in our area at that time! One of my best friends that I met at Uni also has the same name......

Thebookswereherfriends · 04/01/2020 21:49

None in primary or secondary and, in fact, I have never actually met another person with my name. My name is not particularly unusual or strange or ugly, just never popular where I am.

AllideasAndNoAction · 04/01/2020 21:49

None in primary school that I remember, certainly none in my year.

None in my year at secondary but there was one other I knew of about 2 years above me.

I’ve met/known very few people with my name. It’s not unusual, everyone has heard of it yet there just don’t seem to be that many of us around.

CaptainPovey · 04/01/2020 21:49

None at school - 1200 girls

None at work across a lot of years

My name is not an unusual one. You would call it classic

midsomermurderess · 04/01/2020 21:50

None. My name became incredibly popular since though, but is now on the downturn.

CaptainPovey · 04/01/2020 21:50

That was secondary 1200

None at primary either

Eeeeek2 · 04/01/2020 21:53

None the only people I've met with my name are 8-10 years younger
