None. My first name is often a nickname

8MinutesToSunrise · 05/01/2020 00:52

None, never met another person with my first name.

Moonfacebiggins · 05/01/2020 00:59

None. I didn't meet another until in my late 20s

lowlandLucky · 05/01/2020 08:27

None, my christain name is forgein and my Surname was a uncommon British name, Although there was no girls in my school with my Christain name my Uncles neighbour's Daughter had the same Christain and surname as me.
My married surname is neither really common nor uncommon but another woman in the village has the same names as me, just spelled differently

PurBal · 05/01/2020 08:29

3 in my class

LittleCandle · 05/01/2020 08:39

One in one primary school (I attended 3) and one in high school. Neither of the other girls had been in the school the whole time I was, though.

trinity0097 · 05/01/2020 08:39

4 others, in a Year group of 30

ch3rrycola · 05/01/2020 08:40

None at primary or secondary

CeeceeBloomingdale · 05/01/2020 08:42

Many. Bane of my life and affected how I named my children

OceanSunFish · 05/01/2020 08:42

None at school. I met one at uni and another one since leaving uni. Plus a couple of celebrities / famous fictional characters with my name.

TheoneandObi · 05/01/2020 08:43

surprisingly, none at school, even though my parents gave me a strikingly unimaginative mid-sixties first name. I knew a couple at University and none since. Which amazes me.
I ended up giving my son quite a common name too and likewise he was the only one in his class, though there were 3 Harry's

Gingerninja01 · 05/01/2020 08:45

In my class at school there was another gingerninja, in the year group maybe another 8.
I have never worked anywhere where there haven't been at least 5 other people of varying ages with the same name, and several friends partners etc also have my name.
Its super common basically!

sashh · 05/01/2020 08:48

At three different primaries there was just me. At high school 5 with the same name (different spellings) and two with the Irish version (or the 5 of us had the English version of their names) one of whom had the same surname as me.

50shadesofsay · 05/01/2020 08:50

None but in my year in primary, there were three girls with the same name. As an adult, decades later, I've only met two people with that name and it was popular when a child. I wonder if the worry over giving a child a popular name isn't necessary as a result. My full name is unusual. The shortened version isn't. As an adult, I've worked with a couple with the same shortened name over a ten year period and then no-one.

Kiki275 · 05/01/2020 09:25

@Kirstenkl I think we have the same name if your username is a clue Smile. I've never met another, but it is more popular in Scotland. That's the only place I could get a headband with it on when I was little x

ThisLittlePiggyWentTo · 05/01/2020 09:48

3 for me. Very common!

SE13Mummy · 05/01/2020 18:24

None at my primary school. There were two others at my secondary school though, one of whom was in my year. It's a traditional, biblical name given to plenty of us aged 50 and under but isn't overused. My DDs are the only ones in their primary (and secondary) schools - neither has an especially unusual name but we just don't encounter girls with the same names locally.

dogcrazy · 05/01/2020 18:28
  1. It’s now one of the most popular girls names so I hear it everywhere.
Stayingstrong24 · 05/01/2020 21:56

Only one, but it used to drive me round the twist as when ever anyone said the name she would jump in and answer regardless of who they were addressing.
To be fair she was more popular than me (I was the shy one) so in most cases they were speaking to her.
It got to the point where I didn't even bother to raise my head when I heard the name as I would always be snapped at with "I'm talking to the other one! Not you!".
She was with me through primary school and high school (always in the same classes) and then when I did my college course I thought I'd shaken her off. Until the register was called (first names only) and before I had chance to answer a familiar voice piped up from the back of the room!!

PinkFlamingo888 · 05/01/2020 22:36

None in primary and none in secondary until two others both started at the same time! They both went by a different abbreviation though. There were loads of boys with the same abbreviated name as me though!

lakeswimmer · 05/01/2020 22:40

At primary school - none
At a secondary school with 1200 girls - one (in a different year group to me)

It's not actually that rare but it's quite classic and just wasn't used that much among my generation.

KatyaZamolodchikova · 05/01/2020 22:46

I’ve never met anyone with the same name as me. I know of two people with the same name as me but I happen not to have met them. It is another that is more popular than it was but still doesn’t seem that popular although apparently it made the top 25 in 2019.

pivotPIVOT · 05/01/2020 22:47

None, and I've never met anyone around my age with it either

perpetuallybewildered · 05/01/2020 22:48

None in primary school, just one in secondary.

QueenofPain · 05/01/2020 22:48

None at school, college or uni.
