Do you like the name Seven for a girl?

Indecisivemom · 30/12/2019 07:35

My husband and I are curious as to how the first name Seven would be for a girl. The number is significant to us biblically and means the number of completeness, as she will be completing our family. There are many other reasons behind Seven.

Is it too out there, or is it cool?

Thanks for any input! Smile

Doesn’t Reece Mogg have a septimus?

No, he has a Sixtus. I googled.

foooookinghell · 30/12/2019 15:54

Look I'm a fan of Star Trek voyager a big fan but I would not name my child seven

AnnaSparks · 30/12/2019 16:25

Awful

DingDongMerrilyOnThigh · 30/12/2019 16:28

What a way to give your kid a complex.

If you really wanted to do that you'd take the imaginary name Seveni and add a real name to it.

Jemima89 · 30/12/2019 17:08

No.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 30/12/2019 17:32

Seven is an awful choice. Makes you think of the Borg, the Prisoner and serial killer movies. Gemma would be a lovely name, or Septima if you are set on a number. I really don’t understand this need to give children totally weird names that will only cause them grief when they begin school.

JoGose · 30/12/2019 17:34

I’m not a fan, and my kids have unusual names

Dawsoncreek · 30/12/2019 17:34

Erykah Badu

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 30/12/2019 17:37

It's awful. She'll spend her entire life having to explain why she has such an odd name to people. You're naming a human, not a pet. Give her a name that won't single her out as ridiculous....

Marcipex · 30/12/2019 17:38

I’d say no, and I love unusual names.
It’s a pity Septima isn’t that nice either.

Seren is lovely though.

NannySusan · 30/12/2019 17:38

I had a great aunt named Septima, we called her Septa. She was the seventh child.
Would that work for you?

madcatladyforever · 30/12/2019 17:58

Why? There are enough absurd names around without this.

MissBarbary · 30/12/2019 18:06

Erykah Badu - not someone whose judgment I would give much credit to.

Her children are Mars Merkaba Thedford , Seven Sirius Benjamin and Puma Sabti Curry.

Having googled Erykah Badu I see these 3 names are not her only questionable decisions. This is a woman who defended Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, played a concert for the birthday ofSwaziland's ruler ,King Mswati III, Africa's last absolute and serial human-rights abuser. And apparently sees something good inHitler. (She praisedHitler's paintings)

Thingywhatsit · 30/12/2019 18:08

It’s a no from me .... all I think of is the seven deadly sins . I wouldn’t want my child associated with that

Fraggling · 30/12/2019 18:11

Seven of nine is who I think of.

Numbers have a lot of sinister connotations when used as a name, not rtft sure this has been mentioned. You need to watch The Prisoner again maybe!

No from me. Middle name, ok.

winterystorm · 30/12/2019 18:13

You can't be serious? How would you like it if your parents had called you a ridiculous name?!

Dawsoncreek · 30/12/2019 18:13

Just because a name is questionable to you doesn’t mean it’s questionable to everyone. I get that this is a thread meant to help critique and give feedback on baby names bu t at the end of the day to some people even basic af names like Paul, Lucy, Louise are “questionable”.

Erykah Badu is a musical legend.

MissBarbary · 30/12/2019 18:18

Paul, Lucy, Louise are “questionable”.

No they are not. They are plain , ordinary names which won't raise any eyebrows anywhere. Calling a child "Seven" or "Puma" or "Curry" is bloody daft.

As for Ms Badu she has made some very questionable decisions. I don't have much respect for anyone who defends the vile examples I have listed.

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 30/12/2019 18:18

It's not my kind of name but it's quite cool. Definitely ok to use as a middle name!

Dollymixture22 · 30/12/2019 18:19

I am still smarting that I got an absolute bollocking on this thread for my comments and was called old fashioned and narrow minded, yet many have said much much worse😂🙄.

I didn’t think I was narrow minded or old fashioned, but may be I am😊. I do remember a character is blossom who was called six. A huge amount of jokes were centred on this name, apparently it was how many beers it took for her conception.

But hey that’s mumsnet for you.

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 30/12/2019 18:20

Its beautiful, go for it Halo

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 30/12/2019 18:21

What about septimus, means the seventh I believe.

Shopkinsdoll · 30/12/2019 18:23

Why would you???

littlecontis · 30/12/2019 18:23

Absolutely no to 7

Gemma is a lovely name

NewName73 · 30/12/2019 18:23

No.
