Considering this for baby girl due in 4 weeks! What are your thoughts? Have you ever come across one?

Sibling for DS 4 yrs Moses if that makes a difference! Smile

Don’t.

orangeteal · 13/11/2019 13:56

I personally prefer Labia.

Peanutbutteryogurt · 13/11/2019 13:57

What the fuck?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 13:58

Is that a ‘person name‘ anywhere?

Winkywoop · 13/11/2019 13:59

Love nn Lib or Libby

Friends have suggested Lydia or India but not a huge fan of either of those!

Any alternatives?!

How about Gaddafi?

Dinosauraddict · 13/11/2019 14:00

@Winkywoop we are all going to kindly assume that your hormones are affecting your judgement, and sensibly advise you not to name your child after a country which is in a state of ongoing crisis and turmoil.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 13/11/2019 14:00

I think Libby is usually a shortening of Elizabeth.

Winkywoop · 13/11/2019 14:00

www.babynamesdirect.com/girl/libya

It means heart of the sea so think it works well with Moses for that reason too

merryhouse · 13/11/2019 14:01

No.

Sexnotgender · 13/11/2019 14:01

Can’t say I’ve ever met another one so you’re safe on that front...

NannyR · 13/11/2019 14:02

Liberty or Elizabeth can be shortened to Libby. Libya - just no.

Winterdaysarehere · 13/11/2019 14:02

Afghanistan
Nn Affy?

merryhouse · 13/11/2019 14:02

If you like the idea of using Libby you could name her Elizabeth.

FriedasCarLoad · 13/11/2019 14:03

Go for Elizabeth, and use Libby day to day.

Lybia’s a bit... problematic.

helpmum2003 · 13/11/2019 14:03

What do you like about Libya OP? Is to match Moses?

Personally I would go for Lydia which sounds very similar to Libya and is timeless and classic. Ditto Libby.

Floralnomad · 13/11/2019 14:04

She will spend her entire life correcting people who will automatically assume it’s meant to be Lydia

hungryhippie · 13/11/2019 14:05

Absolutely dreadful. How about Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq?

helpmum2003 · 13/11/2019 14:05

Or something Biblical/Hebrew/Muslim to go with Moses?

Winkywoop · 13/11/2019 14:05

What do you think about just Libby on bc?

Or Livia nn Libby?

OP posts:
bumpertobumper · 13/11/2019 14:07

Liberty is a nice name.
Libya is a nice sounding word, but that connection with the the meaning and Moses is tenuous- nobody will know that. Your DD will forever have to explain her name 'yes, like the country' to bemused smirks and raised eyebrows.
It is that the country has such a troubled history with no light at the end of the tunnel for them.
As someone with a quirky name, but not on this scale, I would strongly suggest that she won't thank you for it.

RiddleMeThis2018 · 13/11/2019 14:07

Livia: beautiful.

BendingSpoons · 13/11/2019 14:08

Personally I think Libby on BC is fine. A friend changed her name by deed poll from Elizabeth to Libby as that is the name she always used.

PushkinTheCat · 13/11/2019 14:10

I would definitely go for Livia, it’s a lovely name. Only downside is I could see it being mistaken for Olivia.

CynthiaRothrock · 13/11/2019 14:10

Hmm sorry but sounds too much like labia. I love unusual names, but i foresee teenage years to be very hard for some one with that name!
If you like Libby then just name her that, failing that Liberty or Elizabeth
