- Sky for a boy, Skye for a girl is how I see it. Sky for a boy, Skye for a girl is how I see it.
I googled that. I like Sky/Skye but wonder what would be used as a nickname. I do realise some parents don't like shortened name but it is friendly to shorten; My real name is three letters, one syllable and I so desperately wanted a shortened nickname! Hee hee, I have been called other things but, though mentioned affectionately, were probably not very flattering :-).
Sometimes a surname can be shortened and the person known by that name.
Another name like Sky/Skye is Estella or Estelle; can be nicknamed 'Stella', which I think is lovely and still concerns the sky.
Welshie, 'Skye' is not too commonly used. I think it is a lovely name for a girl (wouldn't be so keen on 'Sky' for a boy). Skye sounds sort of hippy/flower power - ish, in the nicest way.
I came across a boy called, "Blaze" and thought it was a good name.
