Don’t be too harsh please. I have a very different taste to many of you on here... for example Elizabeth, Eleanor, Genevieve etc aren’t for me at all. If it’s horrendous please tell me, without the patronising comments.

I read that as blankety rose. Nice name though!

Wildorchidz · 25/09/2019 18:17

That’s a no from me

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/09/2019 18:18

I quite like it.
My taste varies right across the board from old fashion to what some may call chavy.

Nonnymum · 25/09/2019 18:19

Sorry I have never heard of the name Blakely. I have heard of Blake but for a boy. I like Rose but don't think it goes with Blakely. But that's just my taste. What matters is what you and your DP think.

MazDazzle · 25/09/2019 18:19

The double ‘l’ sound in Blakely makes it difficult to say.

Hollylolly28 · 25/09/2019 18:19

I think Blake is better than blakely

lazylinguist · 25/09/2019 18:19

Rose is nice. Blakely - not a fan at all tbh.

Sexnotgender · 25/09/2019 18:21

Blakely is terrible!

Blake is ok at a push.

Rose is soooo boring. Every second child has Rose/May/Mae as a middle name these days.

MissHenty · 25/09/2019 18:28

I think Blake is a lovely name for girl or boy

Could you call her Blake but Blakely as her nickname.

MissHenty · 25/09/2019 18:29

Ps. Agree with you @cammylou Genevive is my most hated name. I actually can’t stand it yet MN loves it?!

Thoughtlessinengland · 25/09/2019 18:30

I have a very different taste to many of you on here

Can you explain please? I never got the sense that Mumsnet has a specific taste. If so what is it? And more intriguingly what’s your style like by contrast?

fernandoanddenise · 25/09/2019 18:32

It’s a bit of a mouthful...
How about Briar Rose?
Blair?
But as you say everyone has different tastes! You go with what you like and what you think suits her Smile

bridgetreilly · 25/09/2019 18:33

The problem with the -ly ending is it makes it sound like an adjective or adverb:
Lively Rose
Lovely Rose
Luckily Rose
Blakely Rose.

It just doesn't work. Plus I agree with a pp, it's not easy to say.

DelphiniumBlue · 25/09/2019 18:34

Awful, sounds like Blakey from " On the Buses" or that dreadful man married to Amy Winehouse. Also sounds a bit too try hard to be different.

formerbabe · 25/09/2019 18:34

I agree with a pp that the two L sounds makes it hard to say.

ThatFlamingCandle · 25/09/2019 18:35

Blanche!

SoupDragon · 25/09/2019 18:35

Blakely Is awful. The two L sounds make it cumbersome to say.

MustardScreams · 25/09/2019 18:35

Blakely is a tryhard clothing brand.

It’s also 1 letter away from a popular North Norfolk village with a marsh.

A no from me.

Morado · 25/09/2019 18:36

I like the less common names usually but Blakely is a bit of a mouthful. As a pp said, the double 'L' is a bit awkward. And I don't think it goes with Rose.

Plus you say you have different taste but Rose as a middle name is veeeeery common.

Blake is nicer.

ButteryXYZ · 25/09/2019 18:36

My daughter's name is Blakely!! 💗

We initially picked out Blake as we expected to have a boy (already have 2 boys) and surprise surprise she was a girl! So Blakely it was.

Honestly I know a lot of people here don't love the name. It's more popular back where we are from. But everyone who meets her just loves her and we always get compliments on her name. If you search for Blakely on Pinterest the most adorable pictures and signs come up and that's what convinced me.

I hope you end up going with Blakely Rose so that there is more than just 1 Blakely in the UK.

Goingbacktokansascity · 25/09/2019 18:37

It’s a no from me

Clangus00 · 25/09/2019 18:38

Blakely Ivy is nicer.

DPotter · 25/09/2019 18:40

Sorry but Blakely Rose sounds like surname, first name to me

FawnDrench · 25/09/2019 18:42

Not very keen - Blakely sounds like a place to me, and Blakely Rose like a specific genus of flower.

Morado · 25/09/2019 18:47

@ButteryXYZ she doesn't need to nae her daughter Blakely for you to know that. There were 6 girls names Blakely in 2017... not sure about 2018. Just check the ONS.
