what do people think of the name, Season

I really like this name. It means fertile and I like that it has a growth name meaning. Jackson means son of Jack and so Season sounds like son of the sea which I love. I also like the feeling of the seasons of your life with bringing a human being into the world. Season also sounds a bit like Caesar and I like the fact that the second S sounds a bit like a Z. For a girl I think season has a cool nature vibe too and Alison, Addison don't sound masculine so Season certainly wouldn't and it sounds a bit alternative. I've never heard of this being a name though and I wonder if anyone else has. It does come up on a baby meaning list but I hadn't heard it

There was a girl in DS1’s class at primary school called Season, so it’s definitely not unheard of as a name. It’s like any name that seems a bit odd to start with, once it’s attached to a child and you use it, it becomes normal.

I wouldn’t use it, mind.

DontCallMeShitley · 23/06/2019 18:48

How about Seaweed instead?
(No, I am not serious).

Susan sounds a bit like it though and less salt and peppery or periody.

Ginger1982 · 23/06/2019 18:56

Nope.

Apolloanddaphne · 23/06/2019 18:58

I think we have a MN consensus. It is terrible.

Namaste6 · 23/06/2019 19:07

Nooooooooo

ChaChaDeGregorio · 23/06/2019 19:09

I don't like it personally but I've heard lots of worse names.

ChaChaDeGregorio · 23/06/2019 19:11

You could go for an actual season name like summer, autumn etc. Or what about a month name like April, May, June?

LeslieKnopeforPM · 23/06/2019 19:18

I don't mind unusual names but that is awful. Maybe Ocean or Oceana could work for a girl?

SmallBee · 23/06/2019 19:24

Better season themed names:

Saffron
Rosemary
Sage
Pepper

Autumn
Summer
Winter

Meredith
Marina

I’m a bit confused by the OP - is it for a girl or a boy? Either way, it’s not a name and a really odd choice.

floraloctopus · 23/06/2019 19:41

The name Season is a girl's name of Latin origin meaning "time of sowing".

Maybe you should just name her Spring or whatever time of year the seed was sown.

sparklefarts · 23/06/2019 19:42

No

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 23/06/2019 19:43

Just... no.

bridgetreilly · 23/06/2019 20:01

It doesn't mean fertile, by the way. That's just something some idiot who runs a baby naming site has made up. It means a season, a time of year. Or it means a flavouring in food.

IT'S NOT A NAME. Just pick a name for your child that is a name, like everyone else.

BarryBarryTaylor · 23/06/2019 20:09
Hmm
recklessgran · 23/06/2019 20:22

Please no - it's like dog's period amongst other things.

dolphin50 · 23/06/2019 21:04

I'm pretty certain Season is the name we will be going for. Don't know if its girl or boy yet though. Each to their own I guess.

Oh dear 🤣

Contraceptionismyfriend · 23/06/2019 21:13

Will Season WB inheriting your husbands eyes, and your furry fingers?

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 23/06/2019 21:37

My first thought ‘bitch in season’ my second thought ‘salt and pepper’.

It’s terrible! Please don’t give tour child this! They will hate you forever for it. I just asked teen dc’s and they laughed.

Ginger1982 · 23/06/2019 21:44

Oh well! Good luck Season!

ZebraKid71 · 23/06/2019 21:44

I have never seen so much consensus on a munsnet thread!

Theworldcouldbemymollusc · 23/06/2019 21:52

At least your child will be the only season in the class/school/village/country

Switsy · 23/06/2019 21:56

I met a woman with this name recently!

Sakura7 · 23/06/2019 22:01

Poor child. At least give a reasonably normal middle name they can revert to (and they will).
