Nevaeh

What do people think of this name? Not common in my area and I really like the meaning. I went to a medium and she told me my grandma said I'd be pregnant in the next few months and that it would be a "little princess". Everything she said about my past was so accurate and yesterday I found out that bub is actually a girl. We was so close and I wanted a name related to her, but her name alone is too old and dated to be used, and too long as a middle name ( I like one syllable names).

When I came across this I just fell in love, suggested it to family members and my mum said it's a "chav" nameSad OH doesn't like it either but think it's only because he's never heard it. My dad however is the same as me and loves it. Just wondering how it comes across to everyone else? Won't be offended, if it is that bad to everyone then I'll more than likely be put off and find another. Just curious!

Well, sorry but I think your mum is right. Very chavvy name around my area. What was your Nans name?

pinkyredrose · 14/06/2019 09:15

Little princess? Nevaeh is horrific, sorry.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 14/06/2019 09:15

It doesn't mean anything because it's a made up name. Check the last time someone suggested calling their baby "heaven spelt backwards" here.

Why not call it Natas or Lleh?

crustycrab · 14/06/2019 09:15

And Nevaeh is 3 syllables. How are you pronouncing it to make it one?

emotionalaffair · 14/06/2019 09:16

Yes it's chavvy. Sorry.

IceRebel · 14/06/2019 09:17

Whatever your grandmas name is I can guarantee it's a million times better than Nevaeh.

NabooThatsWho · 14/06/2019 09:17

Great, another ‘we hate common people’ name thread.

yayitsagirl · 14/06/2019 09:17

Yes, that was the medium told me I'd have little girl.

My grandmas name is Theresa.

Thanks for honest opinions, but weren't all names once "made up" Confused I've heard it a few times so it's not like I've made it up myself.

Thea?

yayitsagirl · 14/06/2019 09:18

How the medium *

I meant the middle name one syllable, sorry for not making it clear.

What was your nans name?. Nevaeh is really chavvy imo. Sorry OP. I don't like that word but it really is.

MrsXx4 · 14/06/2019 09:19

It’s made up! There is no meaning! It’s just heaven backwards. It’s a horrible name and yes chavvy.

Thoughts on Nevaeh? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3559998-Thoughts-on-Nevaeh

This is the link (I hope) to the previous thread where someone posted asking for thoughts.

GwenCooper81 · 14/06/2019 09:20

Just read your update. Tess/Tessa? Thea?. Did she have a middle name?

Blue5238 · 14/06/2019 09:20

Go with Theresa and Tess for short. Nevaeh is hideous

justanswerthephone · 14/06/2019 09:20

It's not a real name. I will never accept this as a real name. It's a backwards word that has no proper pronunciation and not only does it look ugly it comes across as desperate.

Please no.

Your DD is not a princess, she is a regular every day child who will grow into an adult. Bare that in mind.

CallMeRachel · 14/06/2019 09:21

Noooooo!! It's a made up 'Heaven' backwards that many chats misspell as Neveah, Naveah etc.

Type that word into the MN search bar, there was a fairly recent very long thread about it.

CallMeRachel · 14/06/2019 09:21

Ffs chavs, not chats

yayitsagirl · 14/06/2019 09:21

My auntie has already used Thea for her little girl, and we are quite close so not an option.

I'll deffo be finding another name, thanks everyone! Grin

Please don’t use Nevaeh. Theresa is a super name, I think.

Alyx80 · 14/06/2019 09:22

It’s awful sorry.

MadamBatty · 14/06/2019 09:23

In fairness the medium had a 50% chance of getting the right sex😁

IggyAce · 14/06/2019 09:23

Sorry I’m not a fan, my friend is a neonatal nurse and it’s a popular name on her ward.
Since your GM was Theresa how about Tess. Also did she have a middle name? What was her maiden name?

crustycrab · 14/06/2019 09:24

Tbh I'd just go with Theresa if you want to name her after your grandma.

catinboots99 · 14/06/2019 09:24

Tess is a beautiful name
