Nevaeh

What do people think of this name? Not common in my area and I really like the meaning. I went to a medium and she told me my grandma said I'd be pregnant in the next few months and that it would be a "little princess". Everything she said about my past was so accurate and yesterday I found out that bub is actually a girl. We was so close and I wanted a name related to her, but her name alone is too old and dated to be used, and too long as a middle name ( I like one syllable names).

When I came across this I just fell in love, suggested it to family members and my mum said it's a "chav" nameSad OH doesn't like it either but think it's only because he's never heard it. My dad however is the same as me and loves it. Just wondering how it comes across to everyone else? Won't be offended, if it is that bad to everyone then I'll more than likely be put off and find another. Just curious!

The thing with Nevaeh is when you actually say it, it does sound lovely Ne-vay-ah.

I searched and it is also listed as meaning heaven due to the obvious spelling. But the meaning remains true.

New names come into being all the time and meanings of names and how they are spelt evolve just as language does. So many names are meanings/derivatives of other words that have been tweaked in some way to sound more pleasing.

I reckon in 20 years this name will be considered as just another name associated with heaven in the same way Celeste is (Celeste also means heaven)

Prefer the sound of Nevaeh to Tessa. But Tess is lovely.

Do what you want OP.

Yes all names begin or are 'made' sometime, but that doesn't excuse Nevaeh which is one of the few really awful names I think. Glad you're letting it go.

Tess and Tessa are both great names.

TatianaLarina · 15/06/2019 09:14

Few names are purely invented though. They generally come from other words and have meaning,

Nobody knows this. Going by the spelling it would be Ne-va-eh 🤷🏻‍♀️

Totally weird.

SilverySurfer · 15/06/2019 14:40

Tessa i(njn Tess) is lovely and a thousand times nicer than the hideous, made up name nevaeh.

DonkeyHohtay · 15/06/2019 16:09

Neva, evah, use Nevaeh.

It's bloody awful. Really, really awful.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 15/06/2019 16:11

Nevaeh is awful. Sorry op but it really is a terrible name. As pp suggested Tess would be a lovely nod to your grandmother.

whitehalleve · 15/06/2019 16:23

I'm with your mum.

And mediums are all faking it. Sorry.

sakura06 · 15/06/2019 17:53

All names are made up. I actually like the sound of it and its spelling. I'm not super keen on the meaning though. DD knows a couple and if you like it, go for it.

sakura06 · 15/06/2019 17:54

Tess is lovely and definitely able to stand alone.

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 15/06/2019 17:58

Sorry but unless you are a member of the Royal Family you aren’t having a ‘little Princess’ you are having a normal baby girl. Thoughts on Nevaeh? Awful - don’t do it!

Weathergirl1 · 15/06/2019 18:02

Go for Sarah or one of its diminutives (Sara, Sadie, Sally, Sarina) if you like the 'princess' connection as that's what the name means!

LittleDoritt · 15/06/2019 19:09

Nevaeh is chav-central.

Tess/Tessa is gorgeous.

paddington34 · 15/06/2019 21:21

Chavvy as can be.

Drum2018 · 15/06/2019 21:26

Tessa is a gorgeous name and of course can be used as a stand alone name as opposed to putting Theresa on birth Cert and using Tessa. Tess is also lovely. Either would be a lovely tribute to your gran.

Owlbert · 16/06/2019 20:49

Tessa is lovely!

5kidsbutnosleep · 16/06/2019 21:17

What about Anaveah? (Anna-vay-ah)

Sessy19 · 16/06/2019 21:28

Heaven spelt backwards isn’t even representative of princesses!! I don’t really get it!!
Sarah, Sadie and Suri....these are associated with ‘princess’ or ‘queen’ if you choose to go with this ‘theme’...🙄

TeaKettleBell · 16/06/2019 21:31

Neeva is a real name.
I like Tessa though.
Good luck with your pregnancy!

FogCutter · 16/06/2019 21:36

Tess and tessa are lovely names.

Really don't like Nevaeh, sounds made up. If you like the sound of it how about Nyree?
