Nevaeh

What do people think of this name? Not common in my area and I really like the meaning. I went to a medium and she told me my grandma said I'd be pregnant in the next few months and that it would be a "little princess". Everything she said about my past was so accurate and yesterday I found out that bub is actually a girl. We was so close and I wanted a name related to her, but her name alone is too old and dated to be used, and too long as a middle name ( I like one syllable names).

When I came across this I just fell in love, suggested it to family members and my mum said it's a "chav" nameSad OH doesn't like it either but think it's only because he's never heard it. My dad however is the same as me and loves it. Just wondering how it comes across to everyone else? Won't be offended, if it is that bad to everyone then I'll more than likely be put off and find another. Just curious!

Why not use Neve, it means beautiful, in many languages. The Celtic version is Niamh
You could use many versions of your nana name , tia, tess, Thea, tea...good luck x

  1. Tessa and Tess are brilliant names!
  1. Or use the “princess” thing and go for either the name of a princess - e.g. Charlotte etc - or a name that means princess. Doesn’t Zara mean princess? I’m sure I’ve heard people say that before.

When I hear Nevaeh I immediately think Heaven backwards, it’s an awful name.

Tessa/Tess is lovely.

Jinglejanglefish · 14/06/2019 10:42

It really is an awful name. Maybe I'm being stupid but I don't get the link between nevaeh and your grandma or the name Theresa? How would it honour her?

Nonotmenori · 14/06/2019 11:59

OP where is this medium? I wanna goooo

Nonotmenori · 14/06/2019 12:01

Ps my cousin has just named her daughter Nevaeh. I'm in SE and never heard the name before. I actually quite like it. My middle name is Theresa and I like that too!

CrocodileClips · 14/06/2019 12:27

How do you pronounce Neveah? I imagine it to be Neeve-uh?

I like Tessa, Niamh is also fine.

yayitsagirl · 14/06/2019 12:32

She's based In Leeds, she's called Sharon. Honestly amazing. Has a waiting list of over a year! Didn't even say much about future was mainly past, I was completely skeptic until I saw her. She knew soooo much that no one else could of possible known, was so accurate with everything.

It's pronounced Nuh-vay-ah

Theresa is beautiful- Tess, Tessa, Thea all variants. Neaveah is I'm sorry awful. It's three syllables so if you like one syllable how are pronouncing it? Naimh is similar and a proper name and one syllable.

sugarbum · 14/06/2019 12:43

Tessa - yes nice name. and you will probably end up using Tess anyway!

ChristinaMarlowe · 14/06/2019 12:59

Beyond awful. About as chavvy as it gets to be honest. Theresa can be Tess, Thea or Terri?

PutThatDown10 · 14/06/2019 13:26

Personally I find it a silly name and it's becoming more common, not going to lie... It does seem more popular in certain circles, I wouldn't say it's chavvy (hate that word) but I also don't think it's a nice classy name.

I would use Therese if you don't want Theresa.

Tia is a pretty name and could be short for Theresa, although it is a name in its own right if you want a short name

mimimoo22 · 14/06/2019 13:51

Just don’t do it ( yes unfairly ) it is very much looked down on. It will not help your daughter in life in any way whatsoever.
Your grandmother had a traditional strong name why don’t you give her that as a 1st or middle name? Tessa seems very similar so maybe could work for you? Honestly Theresa would actually be fine if you want to name after your grandma.

ilovecatsabittoomuch · 14/06/2019 14:15

I'm sorry but Nevaeh is super chavvy.

Theresa is a nice name, and Tess / Tessa are very cute nicknames. I know a 2 year old called Tess (not short for anything) and it's a lovely name

TatianaLarina · 14/06/2019 16:26

Laughable, but Tess/Tessa is great.

I know a very beautiful glamorous Tessa.

IvanaPee · 14/06/2019 16:29

Tessa is cute! :)

Sophronia · 14/06/2019 16:50

Go with Tessa! Smile

OneShotFinch · 14/06/2019 16:59

I think Tessa is a beautiful name!

FenellaMaxwell · 14/06/2019 17:00

Nevaeh is dreadful. Or lufdaerd, if you prefer.

If you want something heavenly, what about Celeste, which means Heaven, or Stella, which means Star?

Tess is nice. I went to school with a girl known as Tessie whose full name was Artemis, which could work if you really want something heaven related? (she was the Greek goddess of wild things)

starkid · 14/06/2019 17:16

Tess or Tessa can definitely be a name in its own right :)

I don't like Nevaeh mostly because of how it looks written down to be honest, rather than most of the other reasons people are saying.

I agree Celeste mentioned above is also a nice name if you did want to go with that theme.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/06/2019 17:19

It's funny how the couple of people on this thread who liked the name, both didn't spell it correctly, and that says it all really.

Wildorchidz · 14/06/2019 17:22

To save you about 30 pages of abuse and horrible posts - do a search with Nevaeh as the keyword.
There was a fairly recent thread about that name and some of the posters very completely vile about it.

Fulltimemummy85 · 15/06/2019 08:28

Nevaeh is awful, I have never met any though so it may not be common 🙈 Tess is cute
