This guy's avian in one way, in terms of nationality.

Ok, that's possibly the most cryptic clue so far, sorry! I'll try and think of another one.

His other avian link is regarding meaning.

The sea-life clue refers to one particular sea-dwelling creature only.

It's a biblical name.

These clues are proving to be bad luck.

"Avian in a couple of ways" are the dove and kiwi - dove: Jonah means dove / kiwi: Jonah Lomu is a famous Kiwi rugby union player

The 90s US West Coast boy who was amongst those having trouble sleeping (film reference) refers to Sleepless in Seattle. Tom Hanks' son in the film is called Jonah.

Nickname, hmm, maybe not = Joe is the nickname and "nah" is the hmm, maybe not. Joe + nah = Jonah

And Jonahs are traditionally thought to bring bad luck.
