Friend named her girl Scarlett-June

My best friend just named her daughter Scarlett-June. I usually think hyphenated names are tacky (think Lily-May) and I've never ever liked them.
But unlike the other hyphenated tacky names out there, I think Scarlett-June is just gorgeous! It's so picturesque and beautiful. Scarlett is really spunky but then you had the -June on the end and you get a great name (I think).
So, my question (and my friend's) is are ALL hyphenated names tacky? Do you like the name Scarlett-June?
btw my friend asked me to make this thread, she's given the thumbs up, don't worry!
I'm interested to hear your thoughts! x

Having taught many children with hyphenated names at aged 11plus, the overwhelming majority preferred to be called by the first part of their hyphenated name. So this child will become simply Scarlet over time, unless the parents can force the "SJ" nickname to stick. Which seems unlikely as it's very clunky.

June is really hip around here.

I agree they are not in the same style category though.

I dont usually like hyphenated names but I think scarlet-June is unusual and beautiful! I'm trying to conceive our third and scarlet sounds a lovely name if we have a girl

Not a nice name, sorry. Why not just have June as a middle name?

It’s chavvy but too late to fix it now!

I didn't realise that Jenna Coleman is really Jenna-Louise Coleman.
I watched an old episode of Dr Who and she's credited as Jenna-Louise. But is now professionally known as Jenna Coleman which made me think of this thread.

Hyphenated names are tacky.

The 2 names don't go together at all and sound really clunky. I'm assuming the June part is after a family member as it's quite an old name. Just put it as a middle name instead.

I think it's a bit cruel to suggesting posting this on mumsnet when it's not even your baby. You must know everyone isn't going to love it. No open judgement name threads are kind. I can only imagine you hate the name and are hoping she changes it. I don't think Scarlett and June go well together. I don't like the name Scarlett full stop.

Not really a fan of those types of names.
And Scarlett-June sounds like a movie title.

I personally absolutely hate 99% of double-barrelled names. When I hear them I just automatically think WTF, why are you using 2 names, it just sounds so odd!
I know someone who constantly calls her son John Michael, even though everyone always just calls him John.
I also know a Michael Robert and it just makes my head spin and I want to say which one is his actual name, you can't call him both all the time!
And a woman answered the phone in an office the other day and called herself Nicola Louise. Just NO! Just pick a name!
I have to say I think Scarlett-June falls into that category. The names just don't go / flow.
However, my friend called her daughter Ruby Mae and I like that.
