Thoughts on Nevaeh?

Hi, We’re expecting our 5th in June and DH recently suggested the name Nevaeh after hearing it at work, we both really like it but we looked more into it. Just so we could find the correct spelling and a middle name to go with it.

I’m not too keen on the fact it’s spelt heaven backwards, I don’t know why I’m just not. What are you thoughts? Also if you have a middle name idea please put it below so far we have;
•Nevaeh Penelope
•Nevaeh Elizabeth
•Nevaeh Imogen and
•Nevaeh Evelyn

If not what other suggestions do you have, Siblings names are;

•Willow Savannah
•Elijah Joseph
•Isabelle Olivia and
•Lydia Catherine

Thank you.- Tyler.

I like Heaven better. Nevaeh sounds a bit too much like “never” to me.

finallychangedmyusername · 15/04/2019 02:07

I'm probably going to be going against the grain here, but I actually quite like the sound Nevaeh makes, out loud. Blush

But I really don't like the fact that it's "heaven backwards" and that it's made up. To me it really doesn't fit with your other DC's more classic names.

Suggestions for alternate similar names:
Nerissa (Shakesperean name)
Natalia
Olivia

Nerissa Imogen would be gorgeous.

Zoflorabore · 15/04/2019 02:11

I think it's awful op. I have never seen the name receive anything but negative comments. I know several toddlers and young children with the name, it sounds terrible and too "try hard" in my opinion.

Poppins2016 · 15/04/2019 02:12

But Ireallydon't like the fact that it's "heaven backwards" and that it's made up. To me it really doesn't fit with your other DC's more classic names.

^ 100% agree. I think the name really clashes with those of your other children. It's also not as pretty/elegant as your other girls names (this baby might feel as though they drew the short straw!).

MontyPants · 15/04/2019 02:14

I’m so glad someone else said it first. Yes finallychangedmyusername it IS a made up name.

sawyersfishbiscuits · 15/04/2019 02:18

I really like your siblings names but really not keen on Neveah.

I think with your previous names maybe these might go:

Primrose
Wren
Keziah

Osian
Flynn
Silas
Micah
Solomon

ItsAllGone19 · 15/04/2019 02:27

It's a made up name and awful.

If you like the sound at the end of the name just go for something like Eva.

64sNewName · 15/04/2019 02:43

It’s not obvious how you’re meant to pronounce it - I can imagine it a couple of ways. So that’s a possible future issue for anyone growing up with the name. Having to explain it all the time will be a pain.

Personally I think it looks ugly and I don’t much like the silly, unimaginative “spell a word backwards” way of creating new names.

BeTheHokeyMan · 15/04/2019 02:48

Awful name op sorry I've also seen nothing but bad comments about it whenever someone asks about it on other sites .There are much nicer names out there !

BeTheHokeyMan · 15/04/2019 02:50

PS your other kids names are absolutely beautiful and it would sound/look awful next to them

It's pronounced ne-vay-uh round here

MercyBodle · 15/04/2019 03:04

I don't like the sounds and don't like that it's anything spelt backwards - what a horrible way to come to a new name. Names start in all kinds of ways and I'm not against something just because it's new or different, but I really dislike this one.

Any of your middle name ideas would be a lot better, and would work better with your other childrens' lovely names. I particularly like Penelope, Elizabeth and Imogen as first names - all quite lovely.
Eliza
Saffron
Matilda
Veronica
Genevieve
Natalia
Anastasia
Verity
Nicola
Nicolette

MooFeatures · 15/04/2019 03:12

It’s a no from me

PotatoScallop · 15/04/2019 03:15

Nerida had a similar sound. More classic too, so a better match to your sib-set

Letterkennie · 15/04/2019 03:36

“Heaven but backwards”

No no no. Awful.

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 07:06

It makes you look like you’ve called a child after a ridiculous Internet meme. Why not call her another random backwards noun? Lleh? Gnirps? Rewolf?

dementedma · 15/04/2019 07:11

Really really dislike it.
Love your Elijah Joseph though! Met a little Elijah yesterday.

GoFiguire · 15/04/2019 07:12

If it’s Heaven spelled backwards, why not just call her Hell?

EjectorCrab · 15/04/2019 07:12

It’s an awful name, sorry OP. Your other children have lovely names.

Figure8 · 15/04/2019 07:15

Like Nivea? The face cream?

zombee · 15/04/2019 07:18

What about vaya? Pronounced without the "nuh". I don't think it sounds as chavvy as nevaeh, it isn't as common, and it's so similar to what you like anyway.

Letthemysterybe · 15/04/2019 07:18

I didn’t realise people actually called their kids Nevaeh. I thought it was like ‘ledashuh’ .

DobbysLeftSock · 15/04/2019 07:19

I had never come across this name in real life until I did a few weeks supply teaching in a really, really rough school and found two in one class! Not keen from that association, plus the whole 'heaven spelled backwards' is a bit ridiculous.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 15/04/2019 07:20

Please don't!

Carpetburns · 15/04/2019 07:26

Don't do it. Truly awful.

InsertFunnyUsername · 15/04/2019 07:27

It's a shame really, because i do like the way its pronounced but you will always be met with an eye roll "heaven spelt backwards" So i prob wouldn't use it for that reason.

I've only met one, sweet little girl with her hair in bunches - Irrelevant, but that is my first thought when i hear the name!
