Thoughts on Nevaeh?

Hi, We’re expecting our 5th in June and DH recently suggested the name Nevaeh after hearing it at work, we both really like it but we looked more into it. Just so we could find the correct spelling and a middle name to go with it.

I’m not too keen on the fact it’s spelt heaven backwards, I don’t know why I’m just not. What are you thoughts? Also if you have a middle name idea please put it below so far we have;
•Nevaeh Penelope
•Nevaeh Elizabeth
•Nevaeh Imogen and
•Nevaeh Evelyn

If not what other suggestions do you have, Siblings names are;

•Willow Savannah
•Elijah Joseph
•Isabelle Olivia and
•Lydia Catherine

Thank you.- Tyler.

Also the OP's other girls are Isabelle and Lydia which are lovely names. Nevaeh just doesn't fit in the same category at all.

@wowfudge as a word yes. As a name no.

Thoughts on Nevaeh?

Hate it, the only career path I can imagine for a Nevaeh is as a stripper. Similar sounding names are:
Nieve
Naomi
Eve

DameSylvieKrin · 15/04/2019 08:11

Or Nieves? It means snow and is fairly commonly used in Spain

pictish · 15/04/2019 08:13

I'm afraid I'm another who doesn't like this name. Heaven backwards...naff. Sorry if that's rude...taste is subjective. Of course if you love it you should choose it.

AppleKatie · 15/04/2019 08:13

Niamh or Naomi would be a 1000 times better.

elizabethdraper · 15/04/2019 08:13

Why not Niamh. Sounds similar but is an actual name

NutMeghan · 15/04/2019 08:13

Vivienne
Aviva
Avery
Evelyn
Genevieve
Valentina

KooMoo · 15/04/2019 08:16

I’m genuinely interested .... just how do you pronounce Nevaeh?

I always struggle with words, especially if some of the letters are meant to be silent.

pictish · 15/04/2019 08:18

How are we even pronouncing Neveah?
Neveh?
Nev-ee-ah?

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 08:18

Nev-AY-a, Koo.

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 08:20

And no, that doesn’t really make phonetic sense, but it’s how it’s generally pronounced. There are two at my son’s school.

KooMoo · 15/04/2019 08:21

Thanks GiantPretzel ... I find that difficult to say ... must get some better fitting dentures Grin

SoupDragon · 15/04/2019 08:24

I’m not too keen on the fact it’s spelt heaven backwards

But that is the whole point of the name.

pictish · 15/04/2019 08:25

Ah. Nevayah. Ok. Thanks.

Just by virtue of being heaven backwards it's a no for me. I find that rather silly.

Not my baby or choice disclaimer applies.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 15/04/2019 08:26

What about:
Maeva / Maevah
Niamh (Neave)

Or

Martha
Nancy
Ava
Sylvie
Ottilie
Aria
Delilah
Iris
Darcy

NabooThatsWho · 15/04/2019 08:30

Hate it, the only career path I can imagine for a Nevaeh is as a stripper.

Then you need a better imagination. I need to stay off the name board, the snobbery drives me nuts.

MrsEricBana · 15/04/2019 08:30

Agree, I really wouldn't. Naomi yes and of all the others suggested I think Primrose would be just beautiful with you other dc's names.

RikoBitch · 15/04/2019 08:31

Don't like it. My first thought was Nivea creme

Wheresmyvagina · 15/04/2019 08:32

Nevaeh is a very Christian Bible Belt name. I'm sure that's where it originated

HotpotLawyer · 15/04/2019 08:33

There is nothing to recommend ‘Nevaeh’. Even the made up pronunciation doesn’t make sense.

All your other children’s names are lovely. Don’t lose the plot now.

AuntieCJ · 15/04/2019 08:33

It's awful, really awful.

icanhearapindrop · 15/04/2019 08:33

I only saw the name ‘Nevaeh’ on MN a few weeks ago, I had never heard of it until then. But then I saw it on one of those stands in a garden centre of personalised notebooks/pencils etc, so I would think it must be a very popular name. Not sure if that would put you off.

LunaAzul · 15/04/2019 08:35

I know someone who liked the name but hated the spelling, so her daughter is Neviah, but pronounced the same as Neveah.

But please don't use it. Your other children have such lovely names.

pansydansy · 15/04/2019 08:46

I actually like neveah. I heard the name years ago but didn't even make the connection to heaven, and even after learning that,I still like it. But saying that my daughter has a made up name so I like them.
