Thoughts on Nevaeh?

Hi, We’re expecting our 5th in June and DH recently suggested the name Nevaeh after hearing it at work, we both really like it but we looked more into it. Just so we could find the correct spelling and a middle name to go with it.

I’m not too keen on the fact it’s spelt heaven backwards, I don’t know why I’m just not. What are you thoughts? Also if you have a middle name idea please put it below so far we have;
•Nevaeh Penelope
•Nevaeh Elizabeth
•Nevaeh Imogen and
•Nevaeh Evelyn

If not what other suggestions do you have, Siblings names are;

•Willow Savannah
•Elijah Joseph
•Isabelle Olivia and
•Lydia Catherine

Thank you.- Tyler.

DH said because I named the twins he should get to choose next ones name, but he liked Elijah and Isabelle when I suggested them and they stuck. Plus he suggested Willow and Lydia and they stuck so I think we should choose one together this time, especially since we chose the names George and Thomas together if we have a boy. AIBU?

I don’t like it.

SoupDragon · 15/04/2019 14:04

Then he really doesn't have a leg to stand on. He chose two, you've chosen two and both of you liked the other's suggestions on those occasions.

FlouryPancakes · 15/04/2019 14:05

I have a Naevia, pronounced Nay-veah.

Although, I'm not at all keen on Nevaeh sorry.

Shadow1234 · 15/04/2019 14:13

I really like the name itself, but think it just looks weird written down, and also don't like the fact that is is heaven spelt backwards.

It's not nice, but that name is associated with 'chavs' and it will impact on job applications when they see that name on the CV.

As I said, not nice but it's been shown over and over that 'chav' (I hate that word) or 'black' names on CV's have a much lower chance of invitation for interview.

Does your DH love it so much that he's willing to disadvantage your DD in her adult life?

NutMeghan · 15/04/2019 14:27

How about Amaya?

Ellenborough · 15/04/2019 14:37

It’s dreadful.your other children have lovely names and All your chosen middle names go with them well. Why not pick one of those?

Penelope Elizabeth or Imogen Penelope would be gorgeous.

Divgirl2 · 15/04/2019 15:00

It really is a terrible name with awful connotations. Whether you agree with it or not study after study has shown people with that kind of name are discriminated against for jobs and university entrance.

Your other children have perfectly lovely names. Maya is nice.

Cookit · 15/04/2019 15:26

I think the “point” of this made up name is that it’s Heaven spelt backwards so I think it would be kind of odd to spell it a different way. Also, it’s just generally pretty bad.

Every parent should get a veto, use yours.

Bumblebeesmum · 15/04/2019 15:32

Such beautiful names for your other children but don’t like this one at all sorry

Penelope or Imogen as first names would be lovely with the others - Penny is particularly sweet

Hollowvictory · 15/04/2019 15:35

It's dire. Sorry bit why would you call your child something spelled backwards, you didn't do that with your other children.
Very chavvy

Rosesaredead · 15/04/2019 15:35

Nevaeh is often used on name boards as an example of the ultimate awful 'yooneek'/chavvy name. This seems to be true of both British and American naming boards. Although I think the sound is okay, the fact that it seems to be widely mocked would really put me off. What about Niamh?

Agree that sibling names are lovely!

Hollowvictory · 15/04/2019 15:36

Floury pancakes what do you mean pronounced Nay-veah? Is that the same as Navy?

RubberTreePlant · 15/04/2019 15:42

No! Worst name ever.

Natalia, Neve/Niamh, Nella.

But not that made-up monstrosity.

HopeOverAnythingElse · 15/04/2019 15:45

It's absolutely awful. Just dreadful.

Apart from the stupid backwards thing, I tend to think that calling a kid something like Heaven is a bit of a mistake.

Put it this way - I know a Blissful. And she is - well, not blissful in any way. Its hard to cart around a name that's so very obviously an unattainable oxymoron.

Karenjane124 · 15/04/2019 15:48

Daedsidog definitely
God is dead backwards 👍

HotpotLawyer · 15/04/2019 16:34

@Hollowvictory

No it's not the same as Navy. Think the ending of Olivia. Switch the Oliv for Nay. Nay-vee-ah.

And no it's not a made up name, before anyone asks. Smile

Hollowvictory · 15/04/2019 17:09

Nivea?

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 15/04/2019 17:09

NC fail. Blush

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 17:10

I'm not sure why people keep suggesting Niamh as an alternative, other than that they contain two similar sounds.

Niamh is an unfashionable but fairly dateless Irish classic, along the lines of Jane, Anna etc, and Nevaeh, with the best will in the world, is gimmicky.

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 17:11

I mean, it's like someone saying 'If I like Khaleesi, what else will I like?' and Mn chorusing 'Elizabeth!' Grin

MarthasGinYard · 15/04/2019 17:12

'Niamh'

I don't understand this suggestion

A classic Irish name

The OP's choice Heaven spelt backwards

Awful
