I've been trying to upload a photo of our gorgeous 17hr old dd and have failed miserably. We had chosen the name Dinah and I'd stupidly thought she'd look like my other 2 even though she's got a different dad. First thing dh said to me after she was born was that she certainly doesnt look like a Dinah and I agree. Nothing seems to suit her. Dh has started calling her Beryl...please suggest something else before it sticks! My other DC are Joseph and Susannah. Thank you.

Dinah is beautiful and I do think that if you choose to use it in time you will look at her and not see anything else. Lots of parents choose names well before the baby is born and they become that name.

We have a Dinah in our family , it is a beautiful name pronounced Di nah, although our relatives in Scotland say Dinner keep the name she will grow into it

I had this. My dd was always going to be Sasha until she was born and looked nothing like a Sasha. She got called something else. Took a while (possibly even weeks) to work out what.

I do know what you mean but (when pregnant) I was torn between Susanne and Kirsty. Decided she would be Susanne if blonde (like my other DC) and Kirsty if dark haired. She was born dark haired, named Kirsty, and within three months had white blond hair. Still blond now she's 42!

Thanks everyone. I cant explain it but she just isn't a Dinah. We've just decided to use it as a middle name which rules out anything ending in A. I do love Jemima but Jemima Dinah is ridiculous! Alice and Beatrice are beautiful but dh has vetoed. He likes Tamsin but I'm not keen especially as she may be called Tammy. I know we have time but the rellies are chomping at the bit!

What about Elizabeth Dinah? Beth is a lovely nn or you could use it on its own but I'm not sure how well Beth Dinah flows?
