hi everyone I made a thread yesterday on short and sweet girl names.
We loved the suggestion of Elsie, so out finalist is now Elsie Belle. What does everyone think of that?
the only thing is I strongly dislike the name Elsa for some reason and I don’t want it to be mistaken for that or it to be too similar? Help me please ladies!! x

It's lovely and I don't think it will be mistaken for Elsa.

Calloway · 28/03/2019 23:06

Elsie as her first name and Belle as her middle name is fine. Elsie Belle as her day to day name will only work if she's a Tiny Tears doll.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/03/2019 23:07

🤮

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/03/2019 23:07

Is she a poodle?

PippilottaLongstocking · 28/03/2019 23:09

I love it! They flow really nicely

PurpleDaisies · 28/03/2019 23:09

It’s really twee

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/03/2019 23:12
Elsie Belle

I like it as long as it’s not hyphenated - ie as long as they’re separate first and middle names.

Nnnnnineteen · 28/03/2019 23:17

My ggm was Elsie- her nn was Clara for some reason. If it was good enough for 1887, it's clearly stood the test of time, though if you call her Elsie belle outside the home it sounds a little my little pony.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/03/2019 23:20

Elsie is an Ok name - will it be a nickname for sth else? Like Elspeth? Eliza?

Neverwrestlewithapig · 28/03/2019 23:20

Would she be known as Elsie Belle or usually just Elsie? I only ask because the two together did remind me of ‘hells bells’ but that probably wouldn’t really be an issue; people might think of it when they first hear it. I do like the name Elsie though (and Belle!)

Mummblebee · 28/03/2019 23:23

Elsa is the first thing i thought when i saw the name sorry Confused

ElizabethMainwaring · 28/03/2019 23:24

'Ell's bells.

MightyAtlantic · 28/03/2019 23:26

It's too cutesy. Elsie is nice but not with Belle. A middle name without an l sound would be better I think, like Elsie Rose.
Or bow about Elsie Annabelle? Not short, but it flows much better.

MightyAtlantic · 28/03/2019 23:27

How about, not bow about, obviously!

pumpkinpie01 · 28/03/2019 23:28

Sorry but I don’t like them together at all

GinUp · 28/03/2019 23:32

It brings back memories of GCSE French:

"Elle s'appelle Elsie Belle."

questabellatreetop · 28/03/2019 23:33

My daughter's nickname is Ella Bella which is cute but not her actual name. Could you use a longer name and shorten it?

ColeHawlins · 28/03/2019 23:36

Elsie sounds like a charwoman.

Belle is very cutesy.

They don't seem like a natural pairing.

Rtmhwales · 28/03/2019 23:38

I love Elsie but think it might be too cutesy with the middle name.

bert3400 · 28/03/2019 23:41

We have just called our puppy Elsie

Elsie Belle
BorsetshireBlew · 28/03/2019 23:43

Absolutely awful, sorry
If you must have Elsie as a name then go for a strong, not cutesy middle name. Anything that isn't like Belle basically

Tillygetsit · 28/03/2019 23:54

I LOVE it! ❤

alonerinlona · 28/03/2019 23:58

Elsie is cute but Elsie Belle is a bit..... vom. Sorry

Divgirl2 · 29/03/2019 00:06

Oh no! There are sweet names which are okay, but that is straight up diabetes inducing. Sorry but you'll be charged 12p in sugar tax every time you shout her name in the park.

Elsie is fine on its own though.
