There are some names like Connie and Matilda.... Popular ones that I hate and just don't get.
Any names that are popular you just don't get?!

Florence.

Pemba · 12/03/2019 16:37

And names like Parker, Hunter, Archer etc.

Calzone · 12/03/2019 16:38

All boys names beginning with K.

Megan.....I find it really harsh.

pineapplebryanbrown · 12/03/2019 16:38

Florence and Flora. What's wrong with Laura? Ditto Lauren, be called Laura.

Also Casey makes me think of suitcases.

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 16:40

Really hate florence and Costance. Find them so ugly.

I like Constance. Don't like other old lady names eg Edith.

HJWT · 12/03/2019 16:42

Dakota and Any named after a car

ScreamingValenta · 12/03/2019 16:44

I don't like hyphenated names.

Elsie May Smith - lovely

Elsie-May Smith - why?

multiplemum3 · 12/03/2019 16:45

I absolutely hate pretentious names lile Tarquin. Also really chavvy names, dulcie, anything hyphenated with may

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 16:48

Am not a fan of some American names like Jackson/jaxon/grayson...just why?

I also hate Matilda, it's such an ugly clunky name.

I also hate the name Ruth, it really makes my teeth itch. Sorry to any Ruth's out there!

I also dislike the names Hazel and Aileen/Eileen. I've never met a nice one yet.

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 17:04

My middle name is Ruth Grin and it's the worst possible name you could give a girl ....my mum said it was her hormones at the time. Named after a family member she hates!

Surnames as first names.

Names that demonstrate what kind of parent you are, like Moss and Oak just so that everyone knows you’re a tree-hugger.
I am a fully paid up veggie tree-hugger btw, but my kids have names that I thought would suit them, not ones that complement my lifestyle.

CallMeRachel · 12/03/2019 17:07

Whoops!! Grin Haha trust me to offend the op, of all the names out there too!! Blush

Oh well, at least it's only a middle name!

katseyes7 · 12/03/2019 17:08

My mam was Ethel. l don't know what possesses anybody to look at a baby and think "we'll call her Ethel!"
My friend said exactly the same about her dad. He was called Bernard.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/03/2019 17:11

Noah
Emily
Joshua
Amelia
Mila/Myla/Mia/Mya

All perfectly inoffensive names, but so blah

Pringlemunchers · 12/03/2019 17:12

Ian. It is just a noise.

BlueMerchant · 12/03/2019 17:13

They not too offensive and could be quite nice if they weren't so common but I don't get theAmelia/Amelie/Emilia-type names.
I dont like names like Maddison or Cory either.

squashedgrape · 12/03/2019 17:14

Michaela and all the other ways of spelling it.

ScreamingValenta · 12/03/2019 17:14

If it's any consolation, I think Ruth is a lovely name. It always suggests a thoughtful, intelligent person to me.

BlueMerchant · 12/03/2019 17:18

I really like Ruth too. Strong and classic.

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 17:20

Awww thanks but seriously Ruth is horrific. Luckily I love my first name.
Don't get Amelia at all...just twee and blah.
Hate Connie too!
My sister likes clementine which I find very pretentious, don't get.

OP posts:
Pinnacular · 12/03/2019 17:20

Darcey / Darcy. It just doesn't sound pleasing to my ears.

123Flopsy · 12/03/2019 17:24

Cutesy names like Alfie, Archie, Poppy, Daisy, Teddie etc.

I much prefer elegant beautiful names!

keepingbees · 12/03/2019 17:36

@CallMeRachel I agree with all those you've listed!

Agree with Ethel and a lot of the old lady names. Also dislike Neveah find it corny.
I don't like Daniel I went to school with many and none were very nice. Same with Samantha.
