Names for a ballerina?

Hi! This is just a character design, not having child.
I am currently trying to write a book, and need some help for one of the main character.
She is shy on the outside, but once you get to know her, she is the craziest person ever. She's kind, sweet, soft-hearted, gentle, and love animals. She is also a dog person. She is Asian and a ballerina. She likes to paint, dance(obviously), explore the nature(ex: play in the forest),sing and is pretty good at it. Ballet is her everything.
Since this is more like a "daily life" theory, I would prefer all of them to have a middle name, just in case I need it.
I would like it to be an uncommon, three or two syllable, soft-souding(ex:luna, definitely not harper), feminine girl name(also, it would be great if it ends in a). Her last name is jing.
So what do you guys think?

@Snog:
Ah! That's what I was trying to say! Sorry if I didn't make it clear.

Those all sound like dimwit Valley Girl names, OP. Unless that’s what you’re going for.

3luckystars · 02/02/2019 19:56

I know a real ballerina and her name is Claire.

Fiddie · 02/02/2019 19:57

Sukie

Laine is the name of a top dance school - so I'd rule it out tbh

And not a lot of Ballerinas get time outdoors realistically

KatyMac · 02/02/2019 20:02

Dancers have an extremely high incidence of low Vit D

merrybloominchristmas · 02/02/2019 20:03

Her character sounds nauseating .

Whynotnowbaby · 02/02/2019 20:05

I don’t really understand the point of this thread, you ask for two syllable names, give a load of additional info but don’t want the name to reflect the culture your dancer represents and then you come up with four (imo) very pedestrian and boring names most of which don’t have the prescribed two syllables!

Littlechocola · 02/02/2019 20:07

Not keen on any of them tbh but your book sounds lovely.

Ayla
Aissa
Lois

These are people that I know and love their names.

wobblebot · 02/02/2019 20:09

I love Laine.

You said easy to pronounce so anything you've had to explain or think to had about doesn't fit your brief.

MrsChollySawcutt · 02/02/2019 20:10

Laine makes think of Rory's best friend (also an Asian character) in Gilmore Girls though.

Ashleighc01 · 02/02/2019 20:13

I love Laine x

daisypond · 02/02/2019 20:27

Champage OP has said the name has to be a normal English name.

HyggeHeart · 02/02/2019 21:11

Freya
Willow

This character doesn't sound believable in the slightest, characters need faults. If you aren't au fait with the ballet world I'd stay well away from making your main character a ballerina because unless you're going to be talking about dancing until your feet bleed, listening to the same piano track over and over for 10+ hours, the competition in every aspect of her life, I honestly wouldn't bother. Ballet dancers (especially ballerinas) don't play in the forest, they don't sing, they don't paint. They dance and dance and dance until it is better than perfect, because there is always someone in the wings who will work harder and jump higher.

Rant over - I don't like the names you selected. Too American and too modern. If the character is Chinese surely a Chinese name would be more fitting? If she has selected an English name for herself it could be anything (although stay away from the letter R). I knew a girl who called herself Bubble.

Of those four, it would have to be Laine or maybe Gracie.

Shea = butter, in Body Shop hand and body creams.
Shay = Irish man
Sierra = police call sign for S, 'come in Delta Sierra!' Sounds a bit porn star as a name.

Gracie is an odd one, makes me think of Gracie Fields. Grace is very commonplace these days. It's a near ubiquitous middle name. Also, Grace, as a ballerina, is truly nominative determinism. What is a ballerina if not graceful?

Laine does sound American, like Paige. Laine Jing though, is a bit staccato. Lainey Jing, or Elaine or Elena flows better.

Bouledeneige · 02/02/2019 21:37
