Names for a ballerina?

Hi! This is just a character design, not having child.
I am currently trying to write a book, and need some help for one of the main character.
She is shy on the outside, but once you get to know her, she is the craziest person ever. She's kind, sweet, soft-hearted, gentle, and love animals. She is also a dog person. She is Asian and a ballerina. She likes to paint, dance(obviously), explore the nature(ex: play in the forest),sing and is pretty good at it. Ballet is her everything.
Since this is more like a "daily life" theory, I would prefer all of them to have a middle name, just in case I need it.
I would like it to be an uncommon, three or two syllable, soft-souding(ex:luna, definitely not harper), feminine girl name(also, it would be great if it ends in a). Her last name is jing.
So what do you guys think?

@lottiegarbanzo Darcey Bussell's birth name is Marnie Crittle.

lottiegarbanzo · 02/02/2019 18:56

Really? That's fab! Marnie is such a cool name, now. Maybe seemed drab at the time? I love that she chose Bussell - which makes me think of bustles in dresses, very posed.

ThePandoraBox · 02/02/2019 18:57

Right now I'm pretty much down to four choices: Laine(pronounced lane), Shea(pronounced shay), Gracie, and Sierra. Which one do you guys think fits the best and why(if there is a reason).

Depends on her background. I would tend to go with the most traditional one, Gracie - but I'm making wild assumptions about traditional parents.

I saw a Japanese girl at my dd’s nursery, her name was “Lilina”. Pronounced lil-leena.
Never heard of it before but thought it sounded very ballerina like!

ThePandoraBox · 02/02/2019 19:02

Also, I pronounce Sierra See-a-rah, not See-rah.

Shea puts in mind an Irish man rather than a Chinese woman.

I agree with pp that Gracie is best from your shortlist.

hatethinkingofusernames · 02/02/2019 19:07

I know a ballerina cakes Giselle. Such a pretty name!

Sierra - her dad wanted that name or Cortina.

BikeRunSki · 02/02/2019 19:17

Shea - handcream
Gracie - anything but unusual!

Sorry OP, don't like any of your 3 choices :(

Of those suggested, I like:

Sylvie (after the amazing Sylvie Guillem)

And would add:

Vicky (after Victoria Page from best dance movie ever The Red Shoes)

moredoll · 02/02/2019 19:49

From the shortlist, Gracie. The others sound too harsh and a bit American to me.

BikeRunSki · 02/02/2019 19:51

Lila
Lula
Lilia
Lilac
Lola
Lily

Cheetahssitonfajitas · 02/02/2019 19:52

Gracie. You can't specify how a name is pronounced in a book as people will read it however they will. So if it will annoy you that children will pronounce it wrong, go with Gracie.

WarCat · 02/02/2019 19:53

Aria

Lollyice · 02/02/2019 19:54

Definitely Gracie from the shortlist. I immediately thought Delilah.
