Just found out that we're having a girl. We were convinced it was a boy and only really thought of boy's names (on no evidence whatsoever). Any suggestions for a name. DD is Anna. We have reluctantly decided against Elsa.

Thanks @WallisFrizz - actually my top names at the moment are Benjamin Matthew or Samuel Alexander! So pretty similar. LikeJoshua but DP doesn't.

Will stop hijacking the thread now 😀

I love the name Elise and don't find it flimsy. Maybe it's the Beethoven (and The Cure) connection that beefs it up in my mind.

Costa, I have an Anna and her brother’s first and middle name are two of your top four names. We obviously have similar taste!

Rachel also goes nicely with Anna.

Ellen is nice. Plus it's my grandmother's name. And my mother's too actually but she always thought she was called Eileen. She only found out that her real name was Ellen when she applied for a copy of her birth cert aged 45. It was a complete surprise. She was just called Eileen to avoid mixing her up with my granny.

If I had had a second DD I would have named her Anna. My first DD is Elena.

stinkypoo · 19/01/2019 21:27

Eleanor

You need something timeless and clasic. I’m not sure Elise passes that text.

Anna and Martha
Anna and Elizabeth (nn Beth or Eliza)
Anna and Alice
Anna and Matilda
Anna and Olivia

Frankthebank · 19/01/2019 21:48

Yeah, I think Elise is out.

Jiggins · 19/01/2019 21:50

But I wouldn't say those names are timeless. Matilda and Martha were out in the icy cold until very recently. There aren't that many girls' names that are truly timeless.
