Jasper for a girl?

I love it and have met only a couple of little boys with the name. It feels proper but also a little different. But can it be a girls name too?

Jas is quite popular for girls.

as jasper is a type of stone (chalcedony?) and even used in jewellery, I don't see why it's necessarily a masculine name. But it's so popular as a boy's name I'd be careful.

Backtracking it is a brilliant name for a cat.

I think Carrot is much better than Jasperina.

Just call her Jax and let her tell everyone her mother was really into Desperate Housewives of Beverly Hills and that horrid spin off show from the Sur restaurant Lisa co-owns. Then people can empathise with your child and it will instantly open doors. Doors that only a name like Carrot or Jax will.

But not Ajax. They will fear a female Ajax and recoil in terror from name alone. So definitely Jax. Or Carrot. But not Jasper. No, male dog names don’t quite work as female human names. Carrot is best, I think.
