I love it and have met only a couple of little boys with the name. It feels proper but also a little different. But can it be a girls name too?

OP posts:

Why don't you call her Dave? Or John? Steve maybe?

Jasper is a boys name..

Singlenotsingle · 12/11/2018 12:22

Don't be silly! That's ridiculous. Poor girl would be bullied at school with a name like that.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 12/11/2018 12:25

I really like boy names for girls! Not too sure about Jasper but I don’t think it’s terrible.

Ariela · 12/11/2018 12:39

Would spelling it Jaspa make any difference? Just got to hope she's not a redhead (Carrot, get it?)

No, I wouldn't call a girl Jasper. It's a boys name.

FrogsSpawnofSanta · 12/11/2018 12:58

It is a definite no from me. You will subject her to a lifetime of questioning and confusion.

My real name is very unusual and one that people automatically assume is male. A birthday cake ordered for as a child with my name in pink icing arrived with blue instead, the baker decided that i must be a boy and obviously my mother didn't know what she was talking about. Forms that I ticked the female and Miss boxes on still came back addressed to Mr. It was almost if people are saying "silly person doesn't know their own sex".

It was annoying, frustrating and the reason I am now known by a totally different and obviously female name.

Your daughter could have a different experience and love the name. For me I hated the experience.

RedDwarves, Alexs, Charlies and Sams in the case of woman are shortenings of women's names, quite different.

BlancheM · 12/11/2018 13:32

Juniper?

DaffydownClock · 12/11/2018 13:40

🙄 i
Absolutely no way, it's a boys name. I also know three dogs, a rabbit and a evil goat by that name.
Go ahead OP, and be prepared for incessant questioning if you must.

Ilovedotcotton · 12/11/2018 13:41

No. No. And no again.

Muffin17 · 12/11/2018 13:43

Sorry, think it sounds like a cat

borntobequiet · 12/11/2018 13:44

My springer spaniel was called Jasper. He had a lovely nature, but was a bit dim.

riggitywrecked · 12/11/2018 13:52

I worked with a female Jasper, full name Jasperina, NN was Jaz, it suited her.

NinjaGoSaysNo · 12/11/2018 15:26

Nope. Save it for a son (or a male pet).

Kylieemilyj · 12/11/2018 17:20

Im all for these unusual unisex names working, but Jasper just isnt one of them sorry:(

drumandthebass · 12/11/2018 17:37

Oh my god no. I don't even like it as a boys name. I used to have a rabbit called jasper

TatianaLarina · 12/11/2018 17:50

Love it as a boy’s name, what’s wrong with a girl’s name for a girl.

Unisex names are a pia in fact.

stellarfox · 12/11/2018 17:55

No!

SemperIdem · 12/11/2018 18:37

No

Goostacean · 13/11/2018 00:42

Jasperina? Wow.

OP, no. Please don’t do it.

Rachelover40 · 13/11/2018 00:48

Deffo a boy's name, even in these times, and even for a boy everyone will think of 'Carrott'. Please don't.

Jasmine is nice for a girl.

ShovingLeopard · 13/11/2018 00:50

There's also Jasperine..... named after a stripy form of jasper. Prettier than Jasperina, I think.

I love the name Jasper, but it is a very solid masculine name.

FartnissEverbeans · 13/11/2018 02:53

I see the appeal but I think it’s too much of a boys’ name to realistically use it - unless you’re an a-list celeb Grin

How about Hesper? I love that

Topseyt · 13/11/2018 03:11

No.it is absolutely definitely a boy's name.

Acceptable for a boy. Just weird on a girl.

Sungura · 13/11/2018 05:27

Nope. It's a weird choice for a daughter. It's just all wrong.

Oldgranny · 13/11/2018 08:19

Why are you even asking
