Cool Scottish boys name

I heard a name when I was pregnant but didn't use it. My friend has similar taste in names and is pregnant now and I'm trying to remember this name to suggest!

It's not Dexter. It's not Alaisdair or Hamish. It's not Ruaridh. But it's along those lines I think. Can anyone think of any of those types of names and see can I ring a bell?!

None of the above. When I heard it I was like - I knew the name but knew no one called it if that makes sense. And immediately said that is a really cool name to husband, who agreed it really was and we were surprised it hadn't become popular. If only I could remember. Most annoying.

Nothing constructive to add name wise but OP, you need to get to reading the ins lists of all boys names so you can come back and tell us Wink

Only name I can think of which ends in ee!

I'm going to try another approach and leave aside the Scottish origin for now! You mentioned it was maybe like Dexter and Fletcher so here are some other names ending in 'er':

Abner
Leander
Lysander
Keifer
Asher

Do any of those sound remotely close?
