‘Wet’ names?!

I have seen multiple threads today where people have called names ‘wet’-both boys and girls names. What is a ‘wet’ name?! I’m a bit puzzled by this concept.

I love Robin and Sebastian names! Robin Hood, my all time favourite hero.
And DJ Seb Fontaine, one of my favourite old school DJs.

Also I love Lily as being short for Lillith hehe! The first feminist Wink

I also think that wet seems to just mean posh! I think a lot of the names mentioned here are gorgeous and make me think of lovely , polite, well mannered children. I'd be happy to use most of them

Seth and Keith

They sound so soft and wet.

Sophie because of the soft sound and similarity to soppy

The amount of people confusing wet names with wet people is shocking Hmm

Toby is the worst name I've ever had the misfortune of hearing I think. William, Charles, Joel, Piers, Crispin, Tristan, Alan, Paul, Mark, Jacob etc. (plus their diminutives) all terrible!

Girls names are more difficult but Lucy is definitely up there! Abigail, Lottie, Milly, Esme, Miley all invoke similar feelings.

There's also a lot of names that sound like the middle classes desperately trying to reinforce their sense of self importance and social status. Grin

Timothy/Tim is top of my wet name list. Some other male names which sound wet imo: Greg, Martin, Adrian

Female: Matilda but especially the derivative Tilly
Evie, Millie
