Picked an unusual-ish name and now regret it, should I change her name?

Hi, really struggling here, so don't be too harsh. Tried talking to my mum about it and got "you had 9 months to name her, then a further few weeks" Confused I know that. I did spend ages and ages going through names, but there wasn't any that I absolutely fell in love with, the name I ended up going with cane to me from watching a horror TV series, which I'd never admit! Blush it's not unusual, unusual, but you don't hear it much now. It's in the 300ths for names, so it is known... I haven't had 1 positive response "oh" is my most common response, followed by "it doesn't matter what she's called, she's beautiful" to try and cover up the fact they hate it. I just seem to be regretting it a lot, the more and more I look at her, the less I like it and the more I start to think I can't have you with that name, etc.

It would be changed to Olivia.

I Love Audrey!
Ignore weird rude people.

Suebnm · 04/07/2018 10:06

My neighbours 2 year old is called Audrey, they call her RayRay. Both are lovely.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/07/2018 10:06

Audrey is fab. Very granny chic and retro.
However if you do want to change her name and of course if your dp is on board
don't wait much longer to change it
Give it a few more months and she'll know her name

MollyHuaCha · 04/07/2018 10:06

Don't change Audrey, it's a lovely name.

SoftBlocks · 04/07/2018 10:07

Just my personal opinion but I think Audrey is much nicer than Olivia.

RedDwarves · 04/07/2018 10:14

Nothing unusual about Audrey. It was number 27 in the charts in 2017 here in Australia.

BedtimeTea · 04/07/2018 10:25

Maybe have her named changed, but keep Audrey as part of it, then you can use either name and see what ends up suiting her best.

LupinsNotBluebells · 04/07/2018 10:41

I love "grown up" names for baby girls, as they then grow into names as they get older - think Vivienne, Barbara etc. and I'd include Audrey in this sort of name. For me, Olivia is more of a little girl name - DS is at school with Olivia, Lucy and Hattie etc. which to me are also little girl names. I'd stick with Audrey and it will suit her as she grows up.

Helloflamingogo · 04/07/2018 10:46

Don’t change It to Olivia, being one of 5 in a class is crap.

TwinkleToes86 · 04/07/2018 10:51

Audrey is beautiful OP! 100% don't change it. Olivias are everywhere.

SoupDragon · 04/07/2018 10:52

I think Audrey is one of those names that doesn’t “suit” a baby. By the time they become little people though they’ve grown into it. It’s probably because the name isn’t common amongst babies although it sounds like it’s growing in popularity.

You’re naming a child for life, not just their baby years. Audrey is a lovely name

lottiegarbanzo · 04/07/2018 10:53

Audrey is lovely, elegant and grown-up.

Olivia is nice enough but extremely common. It's the Sarah and Clare of this generation.

sirmione16 · 04/07/2018 10:56

I loooove Audrey. Agree with pp that shortening it to "Rae" would be super cute

Icklepup · 04/07/2018 10:57

Keep Audrey

BasicBetty · 04/07/2018 11:09

Audrey is fab. Don't change it!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 04/07/2018 11:09

Audrey is not pronounced Aud-ray.
It's Aud-ree

dw23 · 04/07/2018 11:12

Audrey is beautiful, I would keep it. I think Olivia just came out top for the first half of the year again. For that reason alone I wouldn't pick it, Olive is cute though as another option.

GreyCloudsToday · 04/07/2018 11:16

Audrey is fab! You should keep it - Olivia is very mainstream.

Shiftymake · 04/07/2018 11:16

Audrey is absolutely lovely! Beautiful name, I was expecting something more harsh and frompy for some reason.

AndreasFault · 04/07/2018 11:17

Audrey is a lovely name, it's just not a 'baby' name - lots of names aren't, but she doesn't stay a baby for very long.

juneau · 04/07/2018 11:21

I agree - keep her as Audrey - it's a lovely name, classic and yet still quite unusual. Olivia has been the #1 girls name in this country for several years running (plus I know an Olivia I can't stand!).

Be brave OP and ride out your worries. You've chosen a good-un!

DorothyBastard · 04/07/2018 11:23

Gosh Audrey is an absolutely beautiful name, please don’t change it to Olivia!

LastGirlsFinishNice · 04/07/2018 11:29

I love the name Audrey. I know a feisty 3 year old Audrey and she suits it to a tee. Such a classic beautiful name.
Audrey Hepburn was an absolute queen.
Own it mumma, it's not strange or unusual it's beautiful.
I have a friend who works with children who called her dd Olivia... couldn't get my head around her using such a common name. It's pretty but I'd much rather have my own name than share with many.

pinkyredrose · 04/07/2018 11:30

My first thought was Audrey Rose.

Cbeebiesrehab · 04/07/2018 11:31

PLEASE KEEP THE NAME AUDREY! Writing notes capitals because that is how much I love the name!! (Slight bias as it’s my daughter’s middle nameGrin ) I cant believe you’ve had negative comments about it irl! It’s gorgeous and far nice than Olivia imo!!
