We just cannot agree. Our baby boy is 9 days old. This is our first baby together - I have 3 others and DH has 4 others. Our naming style is just SO different.

I have namechanged in order to give you our other kids names.

His are Olivia, Jacob, Thomas and Joshua

Mine are Everley "Evvie", Embry and Easton. The "E" theme was not intended so not fussed eithe way if baby girl has an E name.

For this baby I adore the following:

Aubree
Kinsley
Sydney
Mallory

DH really wants Lorna- his mum and her idential twin sister were Lorraine and Laura. He likes Lorna to honour them both. I'm happy to have this as a middle name but not a first name.

Other than Lorna, the only other girls name he will even consider is Courtney which I really dislike.

What on earth are we going to name our girl??

Leona is great, go with that.

Cosmoa · 11/06/2018 10:46

Just wanted to add that I adore your daughters name Embry ❤

TJsAunt · 11/06/2018 10:47

Embry sounds too much like embryo for me......

StillNoClue · 11/06/2018 11:00

Prefer your dps names to yours, but hey you probably hate my ds's name ;)

Not a fan of Lorna, sort of reminds me of names that belong firmly in the 70's. I sort of lump it with the like of Karen and Andrea.
what about;
Charlotte/Lottie (combining the first couple of letters from of your dps mam and aunties name)
For the accidental 'E' theme;
Elizabeth
Eliza
Ellie
Eleanor
Elspeth

For something a bit more different what about;
Winter
June (assuming she was born in June)
Or name her after the same day of the week she was born?
Octavia since she's the 8th Confused
Annie
Lilly

Not Courtney.

Lorna/Lorne is a good scandanavian name.
Leonora
Leo (for a girl- not Leah soooooo over that)
Leif (scandanavian)
Tuva (norwegian)
Celeste
Naomi

Jj2431 · 11/06/2018 11:21

Quite like Sydney. Lorna is ok too

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 11/06/2018 11:39

Lesley :)

starkid · 11/06/2018 16:38

Aubree and Embry are too similar.

Kinsey is nicer than Kinsley imo, I've heard that name before.

I actually quite like Mallory too!

Mallory Lorna
Kinsey Lorna

This is my (very judgemental) opinion. Why don't you have a look a bit further back in your family tree and see what both your great grandmother's various names are? There are some great old names which if you're careful won't date your child (can be annoying), make them look stupid (eg when travelling to Australia) or that everyone will spell in different ways (a pain in a bureaucratic world). I think you need to try and avoid really naff names if possible esp the horrible American ones which sound like a brand of double glazing and are presumably a fad that will pass and wrong as it is people do still make assumptions based on names (eg Lola - shades of aging porn star) which can be CV issue - girls need to be taken seriously not have a cutesie name that makes them look thick. Having said all this my eldest doesn't like his name, my youngest loves his! Good luck, it's a minefield.

auntyflonono · 11/06/2018 18:00

Leona Karenza

expatinscotland · 11/06/2018 18:07

Boaty Mac Boatface is better than Kinley.

trueblueari · 11/06/2018 19:37

Lenora Mallory (I love Lenora)
Evelyn Lorna
Elisse Lorna Rae
Esmeralda Lorette
Eliana Lenore
Leona Kinsley
Lena Emmelie

I'm with you on Courtney - it's awful.

trueblueari · 11/06/2018 19:42

Aubrianna or Aubrielle could be slightly more to your DH's taste than Aubree?

Aubrianna Lorette or Aubrielle Lorna

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 11/06/2018 20:07

Aubrianna or Aubrielle?

Please not. 😲

MarkleDebacle · 11/06/2018 20:24

Leonora is a beautiful name. A much nicer blend of Lorraine and Laura.

RavenWings · 11/06/2018 23:29

Kinsey = scale for measuring human sexuality. Why would you want to be named after that?

Leona is lovely.

RavenWings · 11/06/2018 23:30

And Mallory is great too.

bridgetreilly · 12/06/2018 16:32

Audrey or Esme.

BewareOfDragons · 12/06/2018 16:59

Lorna is a lovely name!

BewareOfDragons · 12/06/2018 17:00

And, sorry, but I don't like any of the 4 names you like, although I like the names of your existing children!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 12/06/2018 17:29

Esme is lovely, but it's a bit similar to Embry, I think. I also suspect the temptation to 'jazz up' the spelling to Esmeee or Essmai might be a too much...

AllMimsey · 12/06/2018 23:02

Kimberley?

HJL2506 · 14/06/2018 16:32

I love Sidney for a boy, I'm expecting out 2nd boy and Sidney is one of our names.

I know you already have Everly, I just love that name! I also love Violet.

gracielacey · 15/06/2018 14:29

Embry Hmm seriously? Like embryo, without the o?

Her surname doesn't start with an O does it?

WrideD · 15/06/2018 15:24

The name I like most from your list is Mallory/Malorie reminds me of Malorie Blackman, she was one of my favourite authors as a teenager so that might be why. Sydney/Sidnie is quite cute though. Don't like Lorna so much but it's fine for middle name for sentimental reasons.
