I thought the river part was a reference to Proud Mary but yay! Great clues!

She can be found literally everywhere - from the grasslands of Africa to the opera house. Some people believe she can fly, but most know she's a liar.

MariaMadita · 22/06/2018 22:49

I'm pretty sure I'm wrong... But, Alice?

trueblueari · 23/06/2018 00:44

Not Alice, sorry!

LadyGAgain · 23/06/2018 05:55

Aria?

trueblueari · 23/06/2018 11:11

Well done LadyG you're too good at this!

Can be found literally everywhere - Aria means air, which is everywhere
Grasslands of Africa - she's a lion as in Hebrew it means lioness of God
Opera house - an aria is a solo in an opera
Some people believe she can fly - its Teutonic origin means bird
Most know she's a liar - the best known Aria is the character from Pretty Little Liars.

Over to you!

LadyGAgain · 23/06/2018 15:34

Great clues @trueblueari .

Ok. This old romantic wrote an epic of its time. Though he died young he took his honorary seat and fought for the Greeks. He can also be found on an antipodean beach.

throwcushions · 23/06/2018 15:52

Byron?

LadyGAgain · 23/06/2018 19:30

Congrats @throwcushions you're right! And I'm not ashamed to admit I had no idea Byron went to Kefalonia which is where I write this from Blush.
Over to you!

throwcushions · 23/06/2018 21:05

How lovely! I am very jealous! Hope you are having a good time. Greece is fantastic.

Ok, here is mine. This noble and religious man can be a cake to his friends.

This noble and religious man

MariaMadita · 23/06/2018 21:15

Honoré / Honoratus?

This game is pretty great imo, btw. I feel like certain clues lead to me finding out / learning about things related to the UK / the anglosphere in general. :) (Even though my DH is being a bit of an arse, claiming that this is easy...Smile)

LadyGAgain · 24/06/2018 05:03

Haha! My husband is the complete opposite staring at me blankly with every new clue, shrugging his shoulders followed by a comment along the lines of "I have no idea what you're on about" GrinGrin

FintyTin · 25/06/2018 20:46

Is the suspense getting to anyone else?
If Maria’s not right, could we have another clue, please? Grin

LadyGAgain · 25/06/2018 20:56

I'd love another clue!

throwcushions · 26/06/2018 07:27

Oh, I'm so sorry all! No, that's not right unfortunately. Two new clues below.

He's very soon to hit the cinemas in the UK. He's a star!

FintyTin · 26/06/2018 09:17

Thank you.

Solomon?

MariaMadita · 26/06/2018 10:07

I thought so ;) but I just read to clue and immediately thought of delicious cake Grin

My husband is the complete opposite staring at me blankly with every new clue

I got so fed up that I gave DH riddles in German and Italian. Wink

FintyTin · 26/06/2018 10:41

I'm with you on that one, MariaMadita! Mmm...cakeCake
My DH has yet to solve one. He now gets cross at our "silly game". Grin

finallychangedmyusername · 26/06/2018 12:03

Just returning to my favourite name game after a hectic few days away Smile.... Bradley?

throwcushions · 26/06/2018 19:09

Not Solomon or Bradley. The cake is not delicious unfortunately!

Let me know if another clue is required!

LadyGAgain · 26/06/2018 20:16

Patrick?

throwcushions · 26/06/2018 21:32

Yes LadyGAgain!

Noble - patrician
Religious - St Patrick
Cake - patty (nickname for Patrick)
Cinemas - forthcoming film about a pug called Patrick
A star - Patrick Star the starfish from Spongebob Squarepants Blush

LadyGAgain · 27/06/2018 06:24

Thank you!

Ok here goes (husband has once again looked at me blankly so I hope ur makes sense!!)

This friendly fellow can be found roaming around New York. He’s from a far away land and has many variations according to legend. You’d trust him with your finances which should be returned smelling of something good (if not of roses)!

trueblueari · 27/06/2018 12:55

William?

LadyGAgain · 27/06/2018 14:34

Sorry not William

FintyTin · 27/06/2018 18:22

It's a long shot...Arthur?
