LadyGAgain · 27/06/2018 18:58

Not Arthur I'm afraid

finallychangedmyusername · 27/06/2018 19:17

John?

LadyGAgain · 27/06/2018 19:20

Not John. Would another clue help? I hope I haven't duffed this one up Blush

FintyTin · 27/06/2018 21:13

I knew I was clutching at straws! 😄
Another clue would be lovely, please.

MariaMadita · 27/06/2018 21:30

Nicholas?

LadyGAgain · 28/06/2018 04:54

Ok...
'This friendly fellow' is not of this world

He came from a far away land bearing a special gift.

I hope that's helpful.

finallychangedmyusername · 28/06/2018 07:21

Casper/Caspar/Kasper/Kacper?

LadyGAgain · 28/06/2018 07:25

Yes @finallychangedmyusername !

Casper the friendly ghost roams New York.

Casper/Gaspar (and other variants) was reportedly one of the 3 Magi from the East bringing frankincense which smells lovely (not of roses) and Caspar means Treasurer.

Over to you!

FintyTin · 28/06/2018 09:26

Ah, well done @finallychangedmyusername!
Great clues, @LadyGAgain, even if they did make my brain hurt Grin!

finallychangedmyusername · 28/06/2018 23:23

Yay! Sorry for delay, I forgot to check the thread Blush

Don't make any mistakes with this one!
A namesake hurts her toe when playing.
In my opinion her friend makes her feel a bit of an ass.

LadyGAgain · 29/06/2018 04:46

Una?

FintyTin · 29/06/2018 07:32

Imogen?

finallychangedmyusername · 29/06/2018 08:01

@FintyTin has it! Imogen was possibly a spelling error (Innogen), actress Imogen Stubbs, "In my opinion" is abbreviated as IMO, possible nickname of Jenny.

Back to you @FintyTin! Grin

FintyTin · 30/06/2018 21:13

Thank you, @finallychangedmyusername - great clues again!

Sorry for the delay: I’ve tried posting several times today, but my phone just wasn’t having any of it! This should be a nice easy one, I think.

This well-heeled lady has excellent connections; but cut off her ear and you’ll make her famously grumpy!

LadyGAgain · 30/06/2018 21:40

Lisa?

LadyGAgain · 30/06/2018 21:41

Or Mona!

finallychangedmyusername · 01/07/2018 15:18

Lakshmi?

FintyTin · 01/07/2018 19:34

None of them, sorry.

I will change the wording of the last clue:
“...cut off her ear and you’ll make her a famously grumpy man.”

LadyGAgain · 01/07/2018 20:00

Victoria? Or if male - Victor? Sorry I'm a little confused about male or female Blush

FintyTin · 02/07/2018 09:24

Apologies @LadyGAgain, I was trying to make it clearer, not more confusing...and failed. You were correct, though.

“Well-heeled” = posh or aristocratic, so Mrs Beckham or Queen Victoria.
“Excellent connections” was the wonderful Victoria Coren Mitchell - host of Only Connect.
If you cut off her ‘-ia’ you get Victor, and Mr Meldrew was famously grumpy.

Well done and over to you! Smile

LadyGAgain · 02/07/2018 20:11

Sorry sorry! Only just checking in (final day of beach before the return to Blighty).
Thank you @FintyTin - no apologies needed. I was the one who was being a bit dim.
I'll get back to you all after I've had a think!

LadyGAgain · 02/07/2018 20:20

ne of the fabulous four talked about him a lot. He’s the best friend of the star of the show and a firm farmyard favourite. And...given the World Cup is on... he has over 100 caps and is the top scorer of all time for his team (probably outing him but topical!).

LadyGAgain · 02/07/2018 20:21

*one of the fabulous...

finallychangedmyusername · 02/07/2018 21:11
