I once worked with a person who'd gone to school with a girl called Myrtle Turtle. I have never stopped loving that.

Any others?

(Not in the spirit of taking the piss out of people's choices, more in the sense of acknowledging parents' genius)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I once taught a Luke Wright. I thought it was hilarious as in "Look right" as I would pronounce Luke and look the same.

Cookies2015 · 10/05/2018 19:51

Knew a Paul Mycock... I still think that's the best name

Glumglowworm · 10/05/2018 19:52

Went to sixth form with Holly Berry
Briefly worked with a James Dean

Definitely smirk at the unoriginality of John Johnson or Tom Thomas type names

I also smirk at people who insist on “wrong” pronunciations like “Mary but pronounced Marie” just why?!?

sonlypuppyfat · 10/05/2018 19:52

My friend's dad is called Mike Hunt. What were his parents thinking?

Passmethecrisps · 10/05/2018 20:18

Oh I don’t know lancelottie. This was in 1999 and she will have been about 13. She was very sweet.

I am a teacher and have come across lots of awesome ones but couldn’t possible share them. I do like to reassure people on name threads though that I have NEVER thought a child didn’t suit their name. They grow into them.

Oh, we did have a doctor called Donald Duck
