I once worked with a person who'd gone to school with a girl called Myrtle Turtle. I have never stopped loving that.

Any others?

(Not in the spirit of taking the piss out of people's choices, more in the sense of acknowledging parents' genius)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My mum knew a Florence Torrance. I worked with an Eileen Forward, who was so rock hard no-one dared comment on it. Also a Tamara Knight. I used to have a client called Richard Duck, who I always thought of as Dicky.

BitOfFun · 11/05/2018 01:11

I also once had a surgeon called Mr Lunevicius, which is quite an alarming name for a doctor with a knife.

I also had a brief fling with a man who's surname was the same as my first so I could have ended up on here myself if it had gone further.
I can't even remember his first name now...! Blush

A bride to be was Heather marrying a Mr Feather.
She was just going to embrace it and see the funny side .

elQuintoConyo · 11/05/2018 08:17

Tbh i would be more than delighted to change my name on marriage if i were to be Heather Feather! That's awesome!

I was at university with a Jennie Taylor. No one had ever commented on her name until she had the misfortune to meet the rugby team one evening in the SU. Poor girl.

I worked in a call centre with Orlanda Florida.

My dad once showed a visiting American around his workplace, a guy named Richard call-me-Dick Gooley Grin

My first name in Hebrew is a kind of animal (think farm), my surname means 'hurtful', DH's surname (in his own language) means 'fat'. If i double barrel my name i become a 'fat hurtful farm animal' Grin

FairfaxAikman · 11/05/2018 08:23

sashh · 11/05/2018 09:15

At the Olympics a few years ago, a volleyball player- Destiny Hooker and the swimmer Misty Hyman. I sincerely hope Destiny's parents were not aware of normative determinism

A friend went to school with a Neil Down. A relative considered calling her son Luke, their surname is North

CheeseTheDay · 11/05/2018 09:26

The niece of an acquaintance is named Isla White 😐

Russet56 · 11/05/2018 09:35

My daughter's RE teachers were Mrs Dove and Mrs Furniss.

99point9FahrenheitDegrees · 11/05/2018 09:43

I adore it when parents give funny or cool middle names. I know a child with a very nice classic first name, surname Potts. Parents are massive Iron Man fans so she has the middle name Pepper. Although I do think the parents of Morris Austen-Driver took it a bit far.

lozengeoflove · 11/05/2018 09:46

DP's PE teachers were Mr Field, Mr Ball and Mr Hockey Grin

I know Mr Hazard (chemistry teacher), Miss Tempest and Dr Vowels (English teachers). Nominative determinism at its best.

Ginnotginger · 11/05/2018 10:14

Just remembered the receptionist at my first job, Mrs Gwynne who's daughter was Penny.
