Lizzie - my daughter, aged 2

Kind of wish we’d gone with Betsy or Elle as a middle name though as she can’t say her own name!

I have a Betty who is officially Elizabeth on her BC, I also liked Elsie but didn't realise that also came from Elizabeth!

AldeandOre · 17/04/2018 23:02

Bee. She’s 12.

catinapoolofsunshine · 17/04/2018 23:10

13 year old Lise a few doors down is Elisabeth. I didn't realise it was short for anything til we'd known her several years!

As PPs have said, just use the name you want from the outset. One of DD's friends is nearly 21 and said recently that she is "Charlotte" on her birth certificate but I've only ever known her, since she was five, as Lottie. She said it was because her mother hated the nickname Charlie and was determined to avoid it.

yellowplumpreserves · 18/04/2018 16:55

I have an Elizabeth who is 8. She often goes by Elizabeth, and one nn that hadn't been mentioned. I'm reluctant to potentially out myself as it's pretty unusual as a nn (and was unplanned- there idea was not to shorten her name at all).

She also sometimes gets called Biddy by her little sister, who can't say Elizabeth.

yellowplumpreserves · 18/04/2018 16:57

To add, the nn hasn't been mentioned and it I've never met another. Happy to pm it to the op if she's interested.

scrabbler3 · 18/04/2018 17:45

Biddy is cute. Wasn't there a Biddy Baxter, who was one of the first women editors at the BBC? Not a bad role model.
