Where do you all live that there are so many Elizabeths?

I'm a teacher and I don't know one

Plenty who have the nicknames as their given names but no actual
Elizabeths

Snipples · 15/04/2018 10:58

Libby - she's 8

Libby

SmallestInTheClass · 15/04/2018 11:06

One is just Elizabeth and one Libby. Both are 6.

Bubble04 · 15/04/2018 13:19

I'm a teacher and have never had an Elizabeth in any of the schools I've taught in. Probably part of the reason I've got this name on my shortlist. I think you can pretty much go for any nn you like, which is why I like it. You can see what suits her, and her nickname can change as she grows up

JustaLittlePrick · 15/04/2018 13:20

I know a 4 yr old Bessie.

JustaLittlePrick · 15/04/2018 13:21

And a 4 yr old Eliza.

MyBoysHaveDogsNames · 15/04/2018 13:26

I don't know any young Elizabeths but my Mum's nickname was Queenie which I love.

scrabbler3 · 15/04/2018 13:34

Libby, 10. I'm not 100% sure that she's an Elizabeth though. She might have Libby on her birth certificate.

The others are all aged 35+ and called Liz, Lizzie or Beth.

Patal · 15/04/2018 14:13

Betsy, 8
Ellie, 14

Marioki · 15/04/2018 14:28

I know a three year old Elizabeth and she gets called Betty, this isn't in the UK though.

FizzyGreenWater · 15/04/2018 14:44

I am guessing you want to use Elizabeth but don't want a Liz nickname?

Word of warning: I know three who were Betsy, Libby and Lila and ALL of them constantly fight against colleagues/new acquaintances shortening them to Liz. One has given up and answers to Liz!

PeggySchuylar · 15/04/2018 16:13

If you introduce baby as nn and don’t waiver it should stick.

I know an Eliza which is a name in its own right like Elsie and Elsa and not everyone even knows she has Elizabeth on her birth certificate.

Arguably you could just go for Elsie or Elsa if you like them but Eliza has Elizabeth on birth certificate in case she wants to use it when she is older.

grasspigeons · 15/04/2018 16:16

Elizabeth - 8
Elizabeth - 10
Lizzie -5

daisypond · 15/04/2018 17:15

Elizabeth (nn Libby) 16
Elizabeth (nn Lisbeth) 15
And a couple more who are older - in their mid-late 20s, known as Lizzie and Elizabeth (not nicknamed)

nooka · 15/04/2018 18:25

I only know older Elisabeths as my children are teenagers but just wanted to say that at all the schools and clubs my children have been at there is the option to give a 'known as' option as well as the formal name so it's never been an issue having them called whatever diminutive they like or their parents choose. dd's best friend Elisabeth is fierce with friends about her desire to never be called Lizzie but I think that if she introduced herself as Elsa Lizzie just wouldn't be on the table.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 15/04/2018 18:26

Lizzie 9

happytobemrsg · 15/04/2018 18:38

Elizabeth is a great name, so many different ways to shorten it

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 16/04/2018 18:28

Lizzie (13)

CheeseTheDay · 16/04/2018 18:34

Betsy (4) - this is my DN
Bess (9)
Zizzy (14)

and an Elsie (13), who has the Elisabeth spelling on her BC.

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/04/2018 11:46

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/04/2018 11:50
