For a girl that is, as I've occasionally heard these names used on boys.

Jade 100%

Erin was going to be my name but somebody my mum knew had a baby the week before I was born and used that name, so they changed it at the last minute. My mum is wonderful in every other respect but I will never forgive her for this! I still think of Erin as being 'my' name.

Erin. By a very long way. Jade's really dated badly.

Erin

@MiaowTheCat I love your reasons! This is exactly how I feel about girls names and wanting to choose something that says "strong and independent" rather than "meek little flower" like a lot of the very girly names in fashion now. I love Erin and would go with this hands down. Unfortunately for me my DH says it doesn't go with our surname and has vetoed it Sad

I think of Erin as being one of those slightly cheesy names that Irish Americans give their daughters. Similar vein to Colleen. I also think of oxtail powdered soup.

Better name out of Jade or Erin.

Much prefer Jade, Erin also sounds harsh/ugly to my ears

TidyDancer · 13/04/2018 11:55

Erin is much nicer. I always loved it and wanted it for a baby name myself but DP's surname ruled that out (rhymes).
