I'm sure there has been many threads on this already.. read this morning that Mary is the hot favorite for girl & Henry for a boy.
Love Mary hope they use it, Princess Mary nice, fresh & underused, would be nice for Mary to have a comeback. Alice next at 6/1, prefer Mary.

More interesting speculation: When/if Harry and Meghan have kids (not 100% certain of course, esp as she will be, what, 37 when she marries), what will their names be?

I think all the straightforward Royal choices will have been used up by then.... but I can see those two being a little bit more unconventional in their choices.

Thebirthdayparty · 19/04/2018 01:41

They will choose names like Zara and Mike Tindall or perhaps like Peter and Auburn Phillips? Meghan will have an American influence and Harry will honour his mother for sure!

JustaLittlePrick · 19/04/2018 11:50

They can't call the baby Zara and Mike Tindall. That just sounds weird.

JustaLittlePrick · 19/04/2018 11:52

Oh god, she'll want Tyler, Mason and Jackson won't she? They love surnames and first names in the US. When I lived there I knew a Cassidy, a Reagan and a Riley.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/04/2018 11:52

My sources say Chardonnay.

A future classic.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 19/04/2018 11:53

Isn’t Peter’s wife called Autumn not Auburn?

Thebirthdayparty · 19/04/2018 11:56

I guess do - autocorrect or I misspelled. I had to google them before I posted. Im far from a royalist but am interested in baby names 😀

thesaurusgirl · 19/04/2018 12:06

I want Prince John.

John is such a great name and it's all but disappeared.

The last English Prince John was also 'disappeared' (I believe he had brain damage related to epilepsy, at the time a taboo illness) and it would be lovely if his memory could be honoured. Would complement the Cambridges' interest in child mental health too.

I want Princess Alice if it's a girl, because I stand to win three figures in the office sweepstake if it is.

RoundaboutSnail · 19/04/2018 14:53

Zara/Mike... hmm, maybe Zarathustra for a boy, Michelle for a girl?

madamedepoppadom · 19/04/2018 17:46

I think Alice or James. For people who say it can't be James because she's got a brother called James and he's got a cousin called James... surely that's precisely the sort of reasoning people do use when they choose a "family name."

Someone asked how long since there'd been a Richard in the royal family - the current Duke of Gloucester is called Richard, and it's one of Edwards's middle names.

Louis may have come from Louis Mountbatten, who I think was quite important to Prince Philip, a sort of mentor at one time.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 19/04/2018 18:29

I think James would be confusing given how much time they reportedly spend with the Middletons. Its one thing naming a child after a distant relation or using a name as a middle name, completely different for first name.

And I'd be really annoyed because 2 of my children would share names woth theirs!

madamedepoppadom · 20/04/2018 08:10

James M would be Uncle James, surely? (Incidentally, does anyone else find it surprising that the press hasn't ever tried to call him Jim? Both sisters are on record as saying that they don't like the shortened forms of their names, and yet they're still called by them on magazine covers all the time.)

ILikeMyChickenFried · 20/04/2018 08:43

I've never heard them say they don't like the abbreviations?

Pippa Middleton used the short form of her name when she published her book Hmm

ILikeMyChickenFried · 20/04/2018 11:28

I'm fairly sure that Kate has always been Kate to her friends and family. Catherine sounds better for a Duchess.

I also think maybe Kate and Pippa are more acceptable upper middle-class nicknames than Jim?

trueblueari · 20/04/2018 16:29

One of the Queen Mother's middle names was Marguerite. I know they won't but I'd love them to use that as a middle name, so pretty!

Henrietta Marguerite Alice

Unlikely but it would be nice.

For a boy.. I reckon it'll be something like Arthur Henry Philip. I'm pretty sure Henry and Philip will be used, but not as first names.

eatyourveg · 20/04/2018 16:54

Alice Victoria Eleanor
Alfred Arthur John

BakedBeans47 · 21/04/2018 17:53

I doubt they’ll go for Henry, that’s Prince Harry’s name.

I think Louis would be nice for a boy and maybe Alexandra for a girl.

I feel for them, expected to choose from a limited range of really very dull names.

mathanxiety · 22/04/2018 20:18

Louis is George's second middle name.
Alexandra is his first middle name.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/04/2018 20:26

Alexandra is his first middle name.

That’ll be Alexander.

mathanxiety · 22/04/2018 20:28

Grin thank you once again, predictive text...

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/04/2018 20:33

Haha you never know! I’ve seen many people post not realise that they are different names Grin

Hairydilemma · 23/04/2018 12:54

I’m hoping it’s a girl and they call her Alice Victoria Frances Caroline.

References lots of royals, including Diana, and Carole Middleton.

And William won’t tell Kate until after they’ve announced it that her initials spell out Aston Villa Football Club. Grin

LexieLulu · 23/04/2018 13:28

It's a boy x

handonhip · 23/04/2018 15:22

Do you know something, Lexie?
