I'm sure there has been many threads on this already.. read this morning that Mary is the hot favorite for girl & Henry for a boy.
Love Mary hope they use it, Princess Mary nice, fresh & underused, would be nice for Mary to have a comeback. Alice next at 6/1, prefer Mary.

Did William say today it was a ‘strong’ name? I wonder if it will be Alexander? Who was ‘strong’ in the royal family? My impression of them is they are all rather sniveling spoilt types.

JustaLittlePrick · 25/04/2018 18:19

Ok, according to the Telegraph, one of the NZ dignitaries at the Anzac service today how about my name, Alexander? William apparently said "funny you should say that."
Then someone else said what about my name, Jerry, to which William replied "that's a strong name."

mathanxiety · 25/04/2018 19:55

Augustus has a ring to it.

VanillaSugar · 25/04/2018 20:20

Hercules. That’s a strong name. Or Irn Bru. Yes, Prince Irn Bru.

RoundaboutSnail · 25/04/2018 20:34

Of course he said that. It wouldn't be polite to say "Oh dear, that's a weak name"!

Kokeshi123 · 26/04/2018 01:30

You know, it's so true--when we are thinking about "traditional royal names," the Scottish kings' and queens' names are part of the naming tradition as well as the English ones.

A traditional Scottish royal name like Alexander, Robert or David would be lovely.

Louis Arthur Charles

BitOutOfPractice · 27/04/2018 12:07

So if Louis is for Mountbatten and Charles is after grandad, who is Arthur? King with a round table?

applesandpears56 · 27/04/2018 19:22

Bit of a cop out to use one of George’s middle names but they were clearly stuck! 3rd child syndrome!

eloisesparkle · 28/04/2018 08:29

Why was Arthur a hot favourite ?

JustaLittlePrick · 28/04/2018 14:10

For me Arthur seemed a good choice because it's very middle class which seems to be their thing as with George and Charlotte. They could be names of royalty or call center workers (for example). William and Charles both have Arthur as a middle name and there hasn't been a Prince Arthur as far as I'm aware.

It would have been better than Louis. Louis is a peculiar choice for many reasons. My feeling is that it wasn't either of their preferences but a name they compromised on.

Far too much Louis love in that family based on one man - Mountbatten. Plus Charles already has a step-grandson called Louis. And Uncle Charles Spencer has one - the future Earl Spencer.

JustaLittlePrick · 28/04/2018 14:12

And while I would have liked Arthur as the first name, it seems totally wasted as a middle name. Which Arthur is being honoured here? Why do so many royals have it their name? King Arthur????

They should have tipped a nod to the Middleton side with Michael or James or one of Kate's grandfathers.

applesandpears56 · 28/04/2018 15:34

They should have gone for Henry
I know it’s Harry’s real name but he doesn’t use it. George, Charlotte and Henry would have been perfect and Prince Henry lovely.
I agree - they’ve compromised
He’ll be called Lewis wrongly all the time

eloisesparkle · 28/04/2018 15:38

Kate's father is Michael ( Francis ) -Michael is a lovely name.
Her grandfathers were Peter Francis and Ronald John James.

I thought William had great admiration for the Middleton family.
Yeah right !

TheDowagerCuntess · 28/04/2018 19:09

He’ll be called Lewis wrongly all the time

I really don't think he will.

This isn't some random, that nobody's heard of (and heard his name), mixing with people who don't know how to pronounce it correctly.

applesandpears56 · 28/04/2018 19:50

Dowager - my name is well known and easy to pronounce doesn’t stop people saying it wrong - all the time!
I think they’d chosen Alfred but then could use it because of poor Alfie Evans

TheDowagerCuntess · 28/04/2018 20:36

Yes, but you're not 5th in line to the throne.

I honestly don't think his name will be mispronounced.

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 28/04/2018 22:42

Prince Ronald
