Any ideas for a baby girl born in this snow/cold?

no Eirwen is a girl's name.

wen = female
wyn = male

They both mean 'white'.

And how is Eirawen pronounced 'Atrawen'..? Confused

TheVanguardSix · 01/03/2018 16:04

I really like Lumi and Eira.

Ickyockycocky · 01/03/2018 16:11

Jadis
Ingrid

In Gaelic, snow is sneachd (schuch) but no child would thank you for that.

youarenotkiddingme · 01/03/2018 16:21

Eira is beautiful.

Emma is a good one for storm name.

Although my local radio station were calling the beast from the east - Pauline. Grin

Ice ice baby 🤣🤣🤣 snorted at that!

mejon · 01/03/2018 16:25

Lily - Lili Wen Fach is another name for snowdrop in Welsh.

BLUESEAPARADISE · 01/03/2018 16:25

Emma?🙈

If I had a really good snow baby name I'd have used it for DD2, born early 2009! :)

I like Svetlana, on the basis that it apparently means 'shining' or 'light' (snow being shiny and light coloured...) and because Russian names always sound wintry to me.

If it was a boy I would have thought of Wilhelm, after Wilhelm Müller, the poet of Schubert's Winterreise. But like a lot of name suggestions, you need the right heritage/ surname for it not to look weird.

Eira just perfect if so.

Winter
Alaska

Eira isn't pronounced Ay-ra. but it is close. The Ei bit is like a very sharp Eh! . Eirwen is very dated and not in a nice way.
Eiry is pretty

Snowflake is cute.

punkpuffin · 01/03/2018 16:55

Lyra - from the golden compass (set in the snow).

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 16:57

Eirawen is awful. It is like calling your child Snowwhite.
Eirwyn is male. Eirwen is female. Both are very dated. Eirwyn is more likely to be spelt Eurwyn.
Please leave Welsh names to the Welsh speakers as at least they can pronounce them.

DullAndOld · 01/03/2018 16:59

I do know an Eirwen but she is at least 65...:)

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 01/03/2018 17:00

I love the suggestion of Bianca - gorgeous name. Also fond of Alba.

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 01/03/2018 17:04

Has someone already suggested Winter?

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 17:09

Gwyn is a boy's name. The female version is Gwen.

ludog · 01/03/2018 17:12

Sneachta

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 17:14

Ia. Brilliant name. Ice or Frost and pronounced Yah. Let's just get a random dictionary and pick a vaguely relevant word.

How about Zardca. Tajik for icicle. Allegedly.

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 17:33

Olwen left a trail of clover not snow.

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 17:34

How about Blizzard? nn Blizzy.

Itscolderoutside · 01/03/2018 17:35

Pingu or Piinga? Love Pingu!....trots off to youtube.

Itscolderoutside · 01/03/2018 17:36

Pinga I mean....the little sister.

calmandbright · 01/03/2018 17:45

Eira and it’s variations aren’t pronounced ‘ay’ at all - more like Ey-rah

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 17:48

Diolch o galon calmandbright.
