Any ideas for a baby girl born in this snow/cold?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Juancornetto · 01/03/2018 17:55

Miyuki, which FreeNiki suggested can also be translated as beautiful snow Smile

Littlepond · 01/03/2018 17:58

Snowlene? Or Snowsephine?

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 18:06

Snowlivia
Snowmelia-Mae

Snowbellina
Iceland

WildWindsBlowing · 01/03/2018 18:12

There is a pretty Catallan girl's name which means snow: Neu (pronounced Ney-ou)

BillieN0mates · 01/03/2018 18:14

Love Blanca but not Bianca or Blanche.

Also Nieves but not with Blanca in front of it !

Niamh? play on Nieve

BillieN0mates · 01/03/2018 18:15

Olwen is beautiful.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 01/03/2018 18:17

Sneachta (shnockhta)(means snow in Irish, but has never totally caught on as a name, for some reason).

Wilma55 · 01/03/2018 18:18

Robyn

BibiThree · 01/03/2018 18:19

I like Robin, for a boy or girl. Wintery links.

SocksRock · 01/03/2018 18:20

One of my girls is called Eira, it’s a beautiful name :-)

NinaNoSleep · 01/03/2018 18:23

Have you decided and named her OP?

LemonysSnicket · 01/03/2018 19:04

Winter

Bianca

Blanca

Lumi

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 01/03/2018 19:06

I'm guessing you've ruled out The Beast from the East?

AliasGrape · 01/03/2018 19:17

Love both Blanca and Alba, but then I loved the book The House of Spirits when I was young and they’re both characters, Clara also.

I know a Nia which I think means ‘bright’, I think that’s a nice name.

Willow (willows whiten, aspens quiver ... )

Mayday01 · 01/03/2018 19:40

Estella?
Always loved that name!

Beeziekn33ze · 01/03/2018 19:48

Eirwen is lovely
Perdita (means 'lost one' but she is in A Winter's Tale)

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 01/03/2018 20:11

Tried Google Translate
Winter - Zima (Bosnian & Croatian) Talvi (Finnish). Larna (Romanian).
Snow - Kalla (Swedish).

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 21:03

Eirwen is lovely? Er, yes for your Welsh 80 yr old great aunt maybe.
As a name for your DD it is difficult (almost impossible) to say properly if you are not a fluent Welsh speaker, it is unusual, is very dated, is not easy to spell etc.

ghislaine · 01/03/2018 21:32

Smilla (Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow)
Lucia (Scandinavian Festival of Saint Lucia near Christmas)

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/03/2018 21:42

Otter - the Romanian is Iarna, not Larna!

Zima is also Czech, I think.

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2018 21:48

Beware of online translations. I recently looked something up and it gave a completely bizarre word as the translation.

Have you considered Gwenwyn as a name for your snow baby?

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 01/03/2018 22:07

@MrsSchad
I like Larna! If it doesn't already exist, going to go out tomorrow (on a sledge) and patent it! Grin

StarUtopia · 01/03/2018 22:29

Why on earth would you call your child Winter??!

Do you want them to be teased for the rest of their life?

What's wrong with a normal name like Elizabeth? Or Charlotte? Or basically any 'proper' name that doesn't have a connotation with being dark, cold and miserable!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 01/03/2018 22:38

If DS was a girl DH wanted to name hI’m зима which is the Russian word for winter, pronounced “Zima”.
I think it’s quite pretty!

nocoolnamesleft · 01/03/2018 22:48

Any female member of House Stark?
