it's the name of the Snow Spider in one of my favourite children's books

Jadis. I mean, I wouldn't but it does fit.

Pixie2015 · 28/02/2018 21:40

Don’t know why as it’s totally the opposite of white but Ebony comes to mind

Alba is a gorgeous name.

babyinthacorner · 01/03/2018 10:23

Ahh loving all of these! My DS was born last December and I really wanted a Winter/snow based name, but not as many lovely choices for boys!
Absolutely love Lumi and Eirlys. I considered Aspen and Winter for a boy, love those too.

Bloodybridget · 01/03/2018 10:24

Seconding a suggestion above of Nieves. Lots of Spanish women are named after Mary, but called the particular incarnation e.g. Maria del Pilar will be called Pilar, Maria de la Concepcion is Concepcion or often Concha/Conchi; Maria de las Nieves is Nieves.

I love the idea of Crystal, Ice Crystal.

Trooperslane2 · 01/03/2018 12:35

Alba

I know a wee one outs self and it works so well because she's Scottish/Spanish

Alba = Scotland
Alba = White in Spanish

Namechange16 · 01/03/2018 12:38

alba doesn't mean white, it means sunrise.

lovelyjubilly · 01/03/2018 12:38

Emma!

george49 · 01/03/2018 13:06

Alba does not mean white in Spanish.

I find it hilarious how these "facts" catch on on MN

My suggestion is Christabel

Trooperslane2 · 01/03/2018 13:08

George49 - straight from the SPANISH mother's mouth.

So I'll believe her rather than you, thanks very much.
